In the end you could just sprint and jump into either of the intact walled crate areas behind you. Though without that big RPG explosive that defies even hollywood you would probably get surrounded and die anyway to a horde that size. The only true zombie proof base is a roof top growing food and collecting water with no stairs for them to reach you.

Short answer: yes his base didn't stand a chance.

add some low hedges to your kill zones. zombies must slowly trudge through them, which provides plenty of targeting time.

damn dude that RPG warhead has like 24 handgrenades ducktaped to it or something, most of the time its a HEAT warhead which works good against armored vehicles but theres a thermobaric warhead that is used for anti infantry use, either that RPG has that thermobaric warhead (TBG-7V Tanin warhead according to wikipedia) or your character used some eastern ingenuity XD
