I just want to add that majority of Australia during winter only encounters a fairly mild temperature drop. Myself in north QLD sees our daily summer averages drop from 35°c (with high humidity) to low 20’s°c. Also our wet season occurs during summer. So overall we still do a lot outdoors, so our vit D levels and access to fruit and veg doesn’t change much

Can the children who have been seen to have Kawasaki like disease- have their history checked for where their initial vaccines came from .Perhaps they came from the same lab ,same batch or contaminated vaccine .

I don't get it. I want to, but it's a totally different language for me. I'm an English teacher. Can someone please break this down for me? I'm trying to find out if there is a correlation with causation between vitamin d deficiency and covid 19 and/or Kawasaki. Thanks!

Racial differences may have something to do with low vitamin D levels...

This is really interesting, but if these racial differences play such an important role, how come the morbidity and mortality in Africa is so low?

I've wondered about the role of vitamin D in all of this. Vitamin D deficiency is correlated with obesity and diabetes (and old age), but also people with dark skin in northern climates. Does a lack of sunlight contribute to obesity? And/or conversely does obesity inhibit the body's conversion of UV light into vitamin D? In either case, we know it's one of the body's key protections against inflammation and oxidative stress.
- Also, could this be why coronaviruses are common among bats (nocturnal mammals who produce little to no vitamin D), and could it help understand why they're not apparently consequential among bats (ie what is their mechanism of antioxidation - probably vitamin C in fruits), but is to humans who need vitamin D and don't produce enough of it?
- Re: your study about endothelial dysfunction between "blacks" and "whites" it would be important to know more about the underlying diets, conditions, and adequate sunlight exposure among the two groups.

I wish I could contact Dr. Sehuelt. directly. He is a busy man. Would low dose aspirin, melatonin and L-Arginine (NO producer) help with some of the oxidative stress and inflammation?

My question, if you had Kawasaki disease before ( survivor of it since 1994/26 years ago) can survivors of Kawasaki be immune to Covid-19? Or there is still no study for it yet? Just wondering.

I heard that if the natural spread of a flu like virus is suspended e.g. quarantine, the likelihood of the virus mutating to a more virulent strain increases.

Given that this syndrome in children is most likely a new phenomenon, could this actually be happening because we did not gain herd immunity?

Just some thoughts I’ve been having. There seems to be a relation between Kawasaki and vitamin D deficiency. There are some studies that point to that. We know that in the northern hemisphere there are a lot of children who are vitamin D deficient. Especially when they have tinted skin or come from lower class background. We know that sun exposure is the number one source of vitamin D and it’s better absorbable through the skin than through the gut. This year, instead of children playing outside, in spring, catching the first sun rays after winter, they were kept inside under strict lock down. Thus depriving the already deprived even more. Some of the Kawasaki cases were tested positive, some weren’t. Maybe it isn’t Sars-cov 2 that is causing this rise in Kawasaki cases, but maybe it is the reaction to it: lock down. Let’s keep an open mind to this, the panic and the fear are already causing so much damage. Our keeping children away from peers, form schools and staying inside might be harming them more than the virus itself, to which they probably have an evolutionary advantage.

I can tell you from personal experience that the underlying conditions are, in many instances, the result of minorities, the poor, and single women of all races not getting the same level of health care that the wealthy, caucasian men, and married women get. Watch John Oliver's expose titled, 'Bias in Medicine.' Watch the movie, 'Brain on Fire.' Just two reports of many supporting my statement.

Worthwhile adding, I believe, for sale of completion, that treatment of RHEUMATIC fever is megadoses of penicillin, imi, followed by per os penicillin prophylaxis for many many years, arguably supplemented, by non the least important, a proper balanced nutrition, including meats , fresh vegetables and fruits. Cortisone, I've experienced at first hand, the salutory treatment, for acute large joint synovitis , and I myself, would dispute, that cardiac endocarditis was not avoided by the temporaneous and ludicrous usage of steroids per os.
Fluid retention, redistribution of body fat , of course followed. I remember vividly one of our elder from PALESTINE, our neighbours, as she explained
ما شاء الله، ملظلظ يا وديع، زي البط، ده انت بقيت ابو الحصاد ، عصفور الجنينة، الجنينة، لولا ك ماجينا،

That is parenteral penicillin, daily imi, for a month or so, monitored closely by ESR, at the time, and monitoring of the fever. Typically, active RHEUMATIC fever, maintains an elevated ESR, and a persistent low pyrexia. Cardiologist opinion is a MUST. I myself was very fortunate for DR TARAZI, later to become an important TEAM MEMBER at the CLEVELAND CLINIC OHIO USA, and author of important pioneering articles and experiments on HYPERTENSION, and one of the first to use GANGLION BLOCKERS as arguably the MOST EFFECTIVE treatment of Hypertension.

Kawasaki disease is most associated with the HLA BW22J2 prevalent in Japan. Rheumatic fever is most associated with the Indo European associated HLA DR7 allele. Rheumatic fever can show a strawberry tongue, purple red erythema, and other autoimmune signs.
It is an autoimmune syndrome which is why it shows up most often in children of school age, as these children have experienced at least one episode of step throat and are being catching it again. Some carriers of the HLA DR7 cannot resist about nine bacteria, (strep and staph behind two). They do not form good defences and will tend to be reinfected over and over. Additionally, where strep is mostly limited to the throat in most resistant people, in people with susceptible HLAs the bacteria are able to pass through the tissue in the throat and move around the body.

I find it interesting that these cases are increasing as stay at home orders continue. Has anyone taken vitamin D levels of the kids admitted? Possible correlation between staying home and the lack of outside play for the kids thus lower vitamin d levels? This may be contributing to the inflammatory response.

Can you continue further with the investigation on to an adjacent subject like dilated cardiomyopathy in newborns after they were exposed to SARS-CoV-2 during pregnancy? Seems like no one has gotten to the bottom of it and still remains etiologically undiagnosed while a lot of the doctors suspect the virus. Thanks in advance!
