Mono and braid both get line twist. Harder to see with braid. Let line out (nothing tied on) while motoring. 5min. Takes all the twist right out.

Great information!! I have braid on most my spinning reels (besides my UL setup for trout). Alot of spinning reels now have braid ready spools so why not use it. Braid works really well for carp and catfishing on hair rigs as well because it sets the hook easier and doesn't require me to have the drag on the reels set super strong.

You should always lay on mono first, then braid. Braid will slide on the spool.

to save money, you can put simple mono halfway, then connect to braid.

I was using 30 lb hi-viz yellow braid to 20 lb fluro leader until a giant bass broke a palomar knot at the hook. I like the hi-viz because I can see it. Anyway, I planned to switch to straight moss green braid until someone told me use a black sharpie on the last six feet or so before the bait. So far so good. I still may go back fluro leader.

Gets you less bites when fishing anything under water, big fish dont get big by being dumb or grtting caught, i fish braid on my frog rod and i just put braid on one of my spinning reels, i feel like if you can see it well they can see it well. And with braid i grt lures stuck on hsrd cover much more, and i cant them thrk unstuck nearly as often.. i havent done a lot of fishing with braid on spinning reel and havent had nearly as many fish on the line, guess ill have to do some more fishing with the setup.

Never liked Braided line. I was not "familiar" with it. I restrung to Braided during my last fishing trip after I lost 6 $12 lures. After switching, I felt every rock, stump, hit....etc. plus I was able to work free all stuck lures. I will only use Braided on Spinning Reels moving forward. I am sold!!!

Half true if you don't have braid, you wont feel the fish bite unless you have a very sensitive rod.

At times surf casting in lake michigan waves can churn up a lot of moss. Braid will be coated in green goo but mono doesn't pick up much. Also trolling with braid is impossible at times because of the darn spiny fleas that stick to it.

I have 2 2500 reels. Sedona and Vanford. I put 150yrd of only 10lb neon lime braid on both.
I have about 1/16th of an inch to go before i get to the slope which is perfect right?

I agree with the points in this video and I do a similar thing I use 30 lb test braid on all my spinning reels and just use different lb test leader lines. I see a lot of people advocate for 65 lb test braid all the way up 100 lb test braid for monster sized fish. But the reality is even for monster-sized fish you'll never need more than 30 lb test braid if you set your drag right. I know guys that have used 30 lb test braid to catch 200 lb sharks deep sea fishing just by adjusting their drag to 15 lb test. So anything over 30 lb test is overkill for any fish you'll ever catch ever but to each their own. Also I personally like to use reaction tackle 4 strand high vis green braided fishing line.

I started using braid decades ago on my spinning/dropshot combo with a tiny swivel and a fluoro leader.
Now I use braid on most of my reels, including my casting reels.
I have no apprehension about leader knots anymore.

I switched to braid about 2 years ago and never looked back. It's the best switch I've ever made. I use the 15 lb hi-vis yellow with an 8-12 lb fluorocarbon leader. It's a game changer in terms of visibility and feel.

@SJBassin
@SJBassin - 25.02.2023 14:18

OK first off good video and thank you for posting it. But I gotta say i'm in the other camp of not using braid (I know very unpopular opinion). Here's why for me. A. Wind Knots B. Spool knots. C. frays D. Knot Strength. I lost more lures in the 3 years i ran nothing but braid whether it was a slight knick I didn't see in the braid and I sent the lure sailing into the depths of the lake. The rock or metal (I fish alot of rock quarries) I didn't see the braid rub up against and all of a sudden there's nothing there (lures gone) I lost a couple rod tips to the braid wrapping around the top eye and me snapping the tip off (in 57 years I had never done that til braid) 99% of the time I am fishing shoreline and the heaviest line I use spinning rod wise is 12lb (State record bass is 10lbs our average fish is 2-3 lbs on a good day) I can work every bit of shoreline using various line weights and never need to "Bomb" a cast out there and if I do I drop down in line size to 6-8. My costs have completely nose dived since I am not going through so much braid. I get 1000 yd spools of Sufix as an example for 9.99 each. My braid averaged $15.00 per 150 yards. in the last 2 plus years of no braid I have lost 1 lure and that was because I tied to an eye on a lure that I saw that was knicked and went against my better judgement and tied on anyways. I do think braid has it's good points and uses but for me and my setups it's an uneeded cost. Also alot of the old wives tales about mono stretch and coils is recycled from 20+ years ago from when mono was pretty bad i'd have to admit. Mono and flouro have evolved as well with the years. Also you soak your mono before using it and closing the bail with your hand eliminates 90% of the issues people complain about in mono. and no lead for leader tying most of the time. Thanks again and sorry for the long reply keep the videos coming!

Ever use Power Pro Super8slick V2? I have almost always used Sunline or Power Pro in hi viz yellow but they tend to fade pretty quickly so I went looking for lime green and found some of the Power Pro Super8slick V2. The reviews seemed pretty good so I bought a couple spools but they are a bit more expensive. Time will tell if it was worth it.

Heck I fish more stained water with a fairy wand and I’ll use 20 lb Camo braid without a leader. I’ll tie the bait to the darker green section, and the brighter sections of the braid help with line visibility. Deadly for skipping knarly cover. Almost never break off when hooked up in the jungle. IMO I get plenty of bites not worrying about the line visibility.

What knot do you like to use to connect the fluoro to braid?
