I was considering playing online then i saw this. Nope. I'll stick to easy mode and just enjoy building my civs for my rpg enjoyment. The way you're 'supposed' to play doesn't appeal to me

Did not play this game for 10 years, and i am very competitive in other games "primarily high elo world of warcraft pvp" but i do like AoE more. The problem is, ehile i understand and can follow everythinf you are doing with my eyes and brain i wonder how long does it take to reach that skill? Because i don't want to get into a new competitive scene if it needs a very long time to master.

I do have some back ground since i also played somewhat comeptitvely with "generals"i and lord of the rings 1&2 "strategy" in the good old days.

My only problem is i don't know how to work out keybinding the vill buildings there are too many buildings and somehow everyone keybound them ? How? Not enough keys on the keyboard 😂

It’s the speed and efficiency of the build from from the start that sets the pros apart. Of course, use of troops, but it’s the aggressive build up that defines foundation of skill imho
