i only played Madness Returns, but you can tell this one has more creative freedom, while AMR, even though it's awesome, you can tell it lacked the potential and creative freedom. this one looks terrifying.

everybody be complaining about the graphics, but the animations sometimes though.

I found moments where I was laughing cause of how goofy the animation looked sometimes. Like in the scene where the mad hatter slaps Alice. His hand clips through her head, not making contact with her, but Alice just faints XD.

Alice: madness returns is way better than this game with the animation and graphics. That's for sure.

It’s weird to think that I first saw this in a coming soon article in 1999 and I only started playing it the other day. Beat it 2 days later. A lifelong itch has been scratched.

What I always liked was how dark and surreal the game was. Like a fever dream in the dead of night.

Holy shit, I never knew you could use the Ice Wand to skip the labyrinth! It took me ages to corral that kid, and all this time I could've just right-clicked...I'll have to keep it in mind for next time.

I really cannot imagine this game being much different from this. This is a stylistic/design choice before an hardware limitation. I think is one of the best aged games ever.

I could imagine Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles being in Wonderland. That way, they'll know how messed up it was, especially when the Cheshire Cat got killed by the Queen of Hearts, which Bubbles loved cats.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about the graphics 😅 and just enjoying the creepy dark esthetic of the game... just me cool.

If not for being bundled with Clive Barker's Undying, I may never have discovered this great game. I still play both to this day.

For a game this old those levels are quite intricately structured and far from bland

You know, I like to believe that Bumby didn't just throw the lamp to the fireplace (I'm not american, I don't know how you say "lareira" in english) like Alice believes he did, since that doesn't fit the intro of the first game. I like to believe that Bumby, after abusing Alice's sister, he saw the library and realized that the place was indeed a fire trap. So, he put the lamp close to the fireplace, he grabed Alice's sleepy cat (she neither woke up nor attacked him, because he acquired Lizzie's smell after raping her), put her on the book shelf that was most likely to, if the books fell, knock over the lamp release its inflamible liquid into the fireplace, and discreetly woke her up, quickly geting out of the house right after that.

For those who say that the sequel was unnecessary, I know of two things that may make it more necessary for the saga :

-The Queen and the Hatter always say that Alice is runing away from the truth. But what truth is she running from ? I mean, she already feels guilty like they want her too, so it can't be that truth;

-Most people have got problems with the fact Alice reverted back to her insane state before the first game, right ? Well, I can actually give you reason on that one, but that's why I've got a fan-fic in which Alice was taken in by Bumbi in return of her help in dealing with her patients, because thanks to her trauma and the damage it caused, she has got a better insight on how to deal with the children. This way, she could keep being the healed and once again happy girl that got out of Rutledge Asylum. However, after being around the doctor for some time, her repressed memories start to resurface vaguely in her dreams, and Bumbi, taking advantage of that mental state that weakens her mind, goes to her room every night and hypnotises her, as he wishes to make a prostitute out of her. This way, she can still have these mental issues she acquired on the second game, but still retain the positive personality she acquired after the first game.

This game is beautiful. Maybe not aesthetically but the story and writing is brilliant. The hopeless state of Wonderland is a metaphor for Alice's madness. She has been supressing memory of losing her parents in the tragic house fire as a coping mechanism, which has stunted her recovery. The war against the Red Queen is symbolic of the difficulty she faces finally trying to accept what happened, en route to reclaiming her sanity. The overall message is to overcome your demons, you first have to confront them.
