judge lest ye be judged, to me the most damning phrase in the bible. God did make us in his own image, to me that does not mean he physically made us in his own image, but that he gave us a mind to understand. And as I understand it we have a reprieve From that judgement until our final days, no one will understand. But until then he loves us and we must pass that love on, with all that paseth understanding.

I personally loved to be judged. I dont trust people who dont want to be judged. What should be said is "Dont misjudge. Gather all the evidence to make a wise judgement". Judging is the most basic survival instinct. You would not be alive if you did not judge. And sometimes you cant gather evidence, you have to make a necessary judgement. If you have ever picked up or passed up a hitchhiker, you have judged. Judgement is just making a decision or choice about people, places, things or situations. If you are walking your children home at night after a movie, and you can take a shortcut through an alley with 5 shadowy figures in it, you have to make a judgement call. You dont know anything about the people in the alley so how can you righteously judge them? There is nothing wrong with judging that this situation could be dangerous. But no matter which path you take, you still make a judgement.

Quick question... What translation are you reading from when reading Matthew 7:1. The reason I asked is because the translations that I read do not say... "Judge not. lest ye be judge." It doesn't use those exact words, so I'm wondering what transaction you are reading from. Thanks.

If you do not understand Scripture, my advice to you is, Do not let it bother you so, only tune out others who claim to understand the Bible, but what they tell you conflicts with your own "intuition".  Be as Luke Skywalker in the movie, Star Wars : A New Hope, when he decides to turn off the computer and "feel" his way to the "weak spot" of the Death Star which he hopes to blow up.  You do not have to read a book in order to "knock up" a girl.  ... The important thing is that you do not do evil, thinking, Well, this is God's Will, when clearly it is not - your own conscience baring witness.... Moreover, it is written that God only admonishes the children.  They who are meant to be saved, will be guided in the right direction.  As an obscure economist once noted, We learn by doing. ... It is like golf.  Do not make mistakes INTENTIONALLY... And if you are really scared of "messing up" - well then, maybe the monastery is for you.

Judge not LEST YE be ....To Judge - to discern between good and bad.  Some might say, "you're fat" or "that guy's got a bad personality".... Well, why focus on the negative?  One judges this to be good, or that to be bad, but you should ACT, as in "filter" :  Refuse the evil, and choose the good.  See, Romans 12:9, kjv.  So, focus on what is pleasant, what is good, what is right - and "tune out" the rest..... "that is wrong"..... Do judge, but .... To judge - to punish, to sentence, to fine .... Judge not, lest YE be judged.  For by what measure you meet it shall be measured again unto you ..... YE, means "you guys" - it is the plural form of the singular you... You, can refer to a single person, or the collective, but YE, recognizes all the persons (plural) present.... So, if you take YE to mean "the Church", then all the others, are the world... the adulterers, the thieves, etc.... Judge not, LEST ye be judged.... LEST.... as in "to gamble"... "do you feel lucky?" .... If you say adulterers should be put to death, are you confident that you have not committed adultery, or will not commit adultery in the future? .... How should you judge others? ..... Looking at an act, does not really tell you if they do right, does it?  One can sell something to another, but is it at a discount, or for a profit?  How can you tell the intent behind an action?  Was fraud committed?  Was it a gift?  Or mutually beneficial?

Many who make these kind of "let me teach you posts" do not allow any to post comments - they desire not to be rebuked (corrected).  Or fear competition.  But at least this guy cares to listen to feedback.  Or simply hates censorship, or believes in the idea of a free marketplace of ideas where the Truth might prevail.  In any case, something to think about - why many televangelists feel threatened by competing points of view.  That said, check out "Wisdom of the Bhudda" post by PsycheTruth.  Very good words.

Many want Critical Thinking skills, when they discover that they do not know what words which appear in the Bible (kjv) mean - words such as, want.... WANT - to suffer a lack of... As in, For want of a thread, the battle was lost.
