Canadian here, if I apply PPF on my new car, will the film repair itself after winter?

I was stuck second guessing my choice to have PPF application to my new SUV.
And kept recalling how chipped up my last hood was.
After seeing this absolutely helps be to believe. This is a better way to go. It such a huge investment to see get beat up if you dont.
THANK YOU

Thanks for posting this.
One thing I did want to watch out for was the comparison of PPF vs Ceramic on the rock chips. I am a detailer and try to sell hydrophobi./ultra glossy PPF over Ceramic on the premise that Ceramic caters for wee scratches but not stone chips or road gravel So can Ceramic coating safeguard car from big scraxhes yes and stone chips? It maybe that’s to truky these this theorem you coat the hood side by side of the PPF. Arguably the higher up on the car bonet the harder to get paint danwgchipped, lower is more susceptible

PPF is (obviously) much better than a ceramic coating, however:

1) having it installed (and removed) is much more expensive.. Having PPF installed on just the front of a Model 3 might cost +10% of the cars value.

2) the edges and rock chips collect dirt, which looks ugly on lighter colored cars.

The problem of the PPF is PPF will never protect car from big deep scratches,
Even small accident or Small bump....

And after every 4 to 5 years PPF will have to change and when PPF Peel off after 4 to 5 years or more then it's possible to damage the original paint of the beloved car....

On the other side for installing PPF need to remove car original fittings which from factory and this is ridiculous for any brand new car.....

That's why I always prefer Best quality ceramic coating and ceramic coating has no issue, overall good paint protection minimum for 3 years after applying and don't need to remove any original car part or fittings.

Is there a specific reason to choose one over the other? They both seem to do pretty much the same thing but are drastically different costs, so what do they do differently from each other? Or should I just be ceramic coating the PPF?

Super helpful video. I had so many questions before watching this video. It looks like PPF with ceramic is the way to go but I can imagine that would be expensive. PPF for the win. Thank you!

Re touchups, what you failed to mention is that the PPF side cannot be touched up - the touchup looks silly on the PPF. It wouldn't matter so much if PPF could easily be replaced, but it's too expensive. This is a reason NOT to use PPF

I did hear though. Depending on how long you keep your car. The PPF will protect against paint fade. Unless you have the car fully PPF’d you will have areas that are slightly lighter and darker if the PPF isn’t covering those areas. Ultimately a full PPF is where you wouldn’t get those effects compared to partial.

Is the self healing feature of PPF lose its strength over time? In that case it’s just a matter of time before scratches come up on the PPF as well. Same question with ceramic coating. How long will it sustain all the wear and tear? I can only assume that it’s safe to go with PPF and when it’s time to sell the car may be remove and cash in on the shine and maintenance.

For a daily driver the ppf is no way worth it. Ceramic coating is better especially if you do it yourself. Rock chips will happen at the cost of ppf you might as well respray your hood
