For anyone who's planning on putting it in a USB/thunderbolt enclosure - Do NOT.
It's a DRAM-less SSD which uses HMB (host memory buffer) meaning it's using your PC's system memory for write cache and the lookup table. HMB does not work over USB and thunderbolt unless it has direct PCIe lanes assigned to the drive, and even then that's not a guarantee. Without HMB its nominal "1000TBW" (1TB model) endurance will get closer to half of that, or even worse.

Mine runs 50 °C idle, and 59 °C under full load. Is that ok?

thanks for the review, another set of information would be greatly apreciated such as: idle temp/max temp, idle mixed and max power draw in laptop/desktop and the latency of the drive, pcie4/pcie3 speeds❤
a very nice to have info (wich nobody seems to do) is measurements from the m.2 pins to the top of the ssd for clearance reasons(especially with HS versions) . most of the data regarding size is the overall thickness of it but not the actual "height"

OS drives are a cheat because its likely testing the drive almost empty, difference between high end drives and low end is they retain performance as they fill up.

Today I found a banging deal on the Dutch Amazon for the new NM790 4TB drive, I was looking for something very high capacity and TLC. 217 euros for that, the WD SN850x 4TB is about 330 and the 990 Pro 4TB doesn't ship yet and will be expensive, the 980 pro doesn't have a 4TB option and the other drives in it's price range are either QLC or from brands that I've never heard off like Emtec. And the fact that it is also blazing fast is a great plus. Just will have to wait for about 10 days when it's in stock and shipping. It will be replacing a 6TB Toshiba P300 SMR drive which I use as a game drive, however is painfully slow at updating games.

Also in terms of usable drive space, Lexar has over 20GB more than Samsung!
My two Samsung SSDs: a 1TB M.2 990 Pro (which is at 81% health after only 3 months; research the drama around this f*kup) and 2.5" Samsung 860 QVO shows up as 930GB on Disk Management/Win Explorer; 😂
vs Lexar 1TB 2.5" SSD and M.2 NS100 SSD at 953 GB
(or in OneCommander: my Samsung SSDs at 1,000GB capacity vs Lexar SSDs at 1,024GB).
Ditch Samsung! They think you don't have a choice! 😂

Yep nevermind, I decided to skip the Lexar NM790 to NM800 Pro M.2 NVMe Solid State Drive for this time in my opinion, so guess what, sn850x was on the first place when I just bought it on Amazon for the past month, sn850x is on the third place, Adata Legend 960 is on the second place in my opinion, at this point, nm800 pro is a sn850x beater, 990 pro killer or 980 pro killer, lag eliminator and stutter dominator, so that's why nm800 pro is on the first place for now for this time to be honest.

The WD_Black SN850X has better read / write (7343 Read / 6674 Write CrystalDiskMark) performance vs. the 980 Pro and 1200TBW for 2TB. Prices ($139.99 USD for 2TB) are similar as well and 5 yr warranty. Personally I'd pay $20 more for a product with a proven track record. Highly doubt I'd ever have to use the "warranty" nor come close to reaching the 1200TBW before an "upgrade" would be well worth it by the time. Is the 990 Pro still having issues with burning through its life cycle (some were recording they were down to like 80% after just 2 weeks, etc..) at absurd rates? Perhaps this is why it seems to be widely disregarded / considered a failed product. Being fast doesn't matter so much without reliability to go along with it.

why are these people trying to disguise a dramless SSD as a proper dram ssd?

I'm impressed about that dramless SSD can reach up to 7GB/s, but lack of important fact that what happens after SLC cache capacity ... i'm concerning about the people will going to trust this video and going to buy a dramless SSD without a proper understanding.
