Say what you want about XFX, but they just RMA my 8 year old R9-270x for the lifetime warranty I have from buying it at BestBuy. Hopefully if they cant repair it,I get something better than this card.

I don't get all the hate for this card. In my country it's cheaper and more available than a gtx 1650s. An RTX 3050 is 50 % more expensive (and totally scalped). I agree that this card and other should be cheaper but it's not such a bad buy if you want a new 1080p card

everybody hating on this graphics card, it's definitely the best price for performance you can get now day for a good $200-$250, if you try buying anything else close to its performance assuming the gtx1660 you'll have to pay from $300-$370, like chill.

I don't understand why this card is bad. It offers performance near 3Gb 1060 and costs 40% less. I can't find anything better for the same price.

I'm going to need to upgrade my 10yr old PC in a few months. The GPU prices are crazy! I built a PC for a friend with a $100 just before COVID and cyrpto-garbage started messing with the prices. So I would need a card thats at least 50% better than my 2017 RX470, but I sure don't want spend $300 for that!
The 6600 seems good, want something that doesn't sound like a jet engine, but still $350?!

Hopefully the prices will get better this summer.

this metal area immediate to the copper slug is Al im 99% sure. The lines or groves are extrusion markings. For something this cheap Al fits, and Ni is very, very expensive not to mention it's not extruded. Oh and just so u know, not every steel is ferromagnetic, austenite steels arent.

I guess that’s why you can actually find these cards for less than a 5500xt

I am trying to find a cpu cooler or a gpu cooler to help better cool the card down i havent been able to find something that matches

I don't get it. This card is perfect for the younger generation who don't have any real income and getting through education. You can run warzone and forza between 50-60Hz for peanuts. I think you're being too critical, not everyone has the cash to get the higher end overpriced stuff. I think this is a great card for the money.

Bought an RX 6500 XT Gigabyte Winforce OC due to low buget and I was desperate to get one since my GTX 970 suddenly died. Since the 970 had 3.5 GB and this one had 4 GB I thought it would perform better and I was pleasantly surprised that it performed around 20% better than my old 970. So for a couple of years this card is pretty decent for 1080p. My PC has a 5600X overclocked to 4.8 GHz, 32 GB of 3600 MHz CL 16 RAM and a B550 so I had PCIE gen 4. My advice is, if you're extremely desperate and have a really low budget get a 6500 XT, otherwise get something better. PS. The reason I could not save more money is because I earn less that $5000 a year so it's not easy to get $100 more for a better GPU. I even had to use a credit card to buy the 6500 XT to 12 payments.

its not trash gpu i have biostar variant it works great for me few fps diff from rtx 3050 and huge price diff.

What size thermal pads does the rx 6500 xt come with? Will any model rx 6500 xt use the same thermal pad size?

You should do 6700XT XFX SWFT 309 teardown. I already gave it up after 1.5 hour, dont know how to take cooler off.

Nobody cares about it, just me... Maybe I won the lottery but my 6500xt ran batter than my older sapphire 580. However I had so many trouble with drives (AMD life) but the card is really stable and powerful on drivers 22.6.2 or 22.10.3 currently using adrenalin on 22.11.2 and just by messing around with manual settings I managed to get 5305 on 3DMark (average is 5232). If you just want to game on 1080p this card is really good. I need to back it up as a user and I have mine since adrenalin 22.5.2 and it sucked hard at launch

this gpu struggles mainly with open world games

The 6500 runs cooler than the 580 by some 9 - 10 deg. , testament to the low power-draw of the GPU, is therefore quieter and of course has a more modern feature set.
The 580 with more power draw, more than double the cores and TMUs, 4 times the memory bus, twice the bandwith with 12 more bus lanes and even with 2x the amount of memory, still cannot dominate the 6500. On efficiency alone, the 6500 is a marvel.

in retrospect this should've been the RX 6400 XT (which is probably is still going to be useless without HEVC and whatnot), and the RX 6500 segment should be cut down from RX 6600 segment instead.

I thought that Steve was just going to rant about the card again as he did in his review of this card. While he did do that, too, here, this video was actually more educational than I thought. While it's a cheap video card, it's not the lowest quality that I have ever seen. At least maybe AMD is reducing e-waste by repurposing laptop GPUs?

Anyone know how thick the thermal pads are?
