People weren't using the upper footbridge of Tower Bridge because they so-loved watching the bridge being raised. It took way less time and energy staying where they were. Tourists love watching that stuff, locals put up with it.

Love the way the English always prefer to reframe history to suite themselves in this case blame the slaughter of women and children of Londinium on the Romans leaving them behind instead of the ruthlessness of Boudica which the Romans eventually made her pay for in kind.

Flooding is an geological certainty for London, and for that matter the South East of England as the South east slowly sinks into the N Sea. Nothing to do with global warming, just plain old geolological evolution. It wont happen tomorrow but probably many years after I am gone but it will happen eventually. Everybody aught to think about migrating West.
