Would the Va lower your PTSD non combat if you file a new claim for sexual assault.

Acquired Psychiatric Disorder does not have a diagnostic code in 38 CFR Part 4. Better to get a diagnosis of one of the mental health conditions listed in Part 4 (other the Adjustment Disorder under 9440 - as that is considered a short term disability - 6 months or less) or just get mental health hooked up on a secondary basis to something else that is already service connected. As all mental health is rated under the same rating criteria you're only going to have one mental health rating regardless of how many diagnoses you may have been given due to Pyramiding under 38 CFR 4.14. Take the path of least resistance. The point of the video should be a PTSD diagnosis doesn't matter so long as you can establish service connection for any mental health diagnosis.

This lady seems smart but this is the same group that wouldn’t even take a look at my PTSD claim and said it was un winnable and wouldn’t touch it. Now I’m 100 percent connected for PTSD all on my own I’m glad they told me my claim was un winnable and I wouldn’t trust these jokers at all. Glad I didn’t pay them they probably wouldn’t have actually helped me or they take my money.

HP is representing me, I was denied mental health and ptsd non combat, moral injury dealing with dead kids on duty and a suicide of a friend while he was duty. and 1 year in okinawa I had 3 events that caused me psych problems and it seems in the decision they ignored that entire year. Was all denied. A chopper went down on the way to our island and all died. I was on standby to get a ride back...Cant find a buddy from there 1968. One would think the JSRRC would find the chopper crash in 1968

AFTER earning a Combat Action, why are VA counselors quick to tell you bipolar is a possibility but will not even say the word PTSD?

I have a ptsd claim in 2006 I was treated by va for depression anxiety and insomnia, but did not have ptsd diagnosis. I have combat action badge and multiple sufficient stressors from my deployment. I was in guard, and received no treatment while deployed. I believe I would have a better chance of proving ptsd than a service connection to another psychiatric disorder. The c&p examiner said I did not have ptsd but had adjustment disorder with depression, anxiety, and insomnia. In recent years my ptsd has increased in severity and the va has finally given me the ptsd diagnosis. My question is I have been told I can do a cue motion on my 2006 claim but am wondering if it may be a dta claim from watching some of your videos and seeing dta is easier to get.

I have a mental health appointment getting ready for C&P exam to be set.
Do you need someone close you to kill themselves in front of you to be traumatized by it? My tinnitus causes headaches, I sleep maybe 4 hours a night every night, I have anxiety, depression, I wake up in cold sweat when I finally do get to sleep. What are my options? I am going thru a private company filing my claims for me.

How does getting a rating for mental health issues affect purchasing guns? There is such a stigma with PTSD or other issues that new ATF forms ask if you've been diagnosed. Just because people have these issues doesn't mean they aren't responsible....

Just got denied for ptsd claim after C&P exam. The denial letter left out the DBQ I submitted from a non-VA psychiatrist diagnosing me with ptsd. C&P evaluator didn’t mention the DBQ. Positive outcome was the VA stated I had a Stressor.

I haven't filed a claim nor was I deployed down range. I was actually in the national guard and when I returned from basic and AIT life was good. But I had a close friend that you could say was my mentor. he served 8 years, was deployed 3 times. So I took to him like a brother. One day he called me in the middle of the night so it's real late so I didn't answer I wasn't sure what he wanted to do probably go drinking or something. Little did I know he took his life that night, on top of that I had 2 of my best friends die around the same time. Make it even worse the one died in a car wreck, and he called me too and I didn't pick up the phone either because I thought the same thing. As for the last one he died from an illness and wanted me to come see him in the hospital but I was so depressed I couldn't bear to go and he died the next day. Losing three of my close friends all in one month and knowing that I could have answered the phone in the outcomes probably would have been different really sent me into a spiral. To lose one friend from suicide that I never stopped would ever take his own life makes you also contemplate on taking the easy way out of this world. I never said anything to anyone at drill about it because I felt like people would see me just trying to use his death for my own personal gain. But here I am almost 10 years later and I still can't let it all go. Probably not claim worthy just one sad story.

I had filed a secondary/ supplemental claim for COPD, CVD (heart) and Depression and Anxiety. Went to C&P exam and doc said I had been misdiagnosed for several mental disorders but he said I should have been diagnosed 16 years ago for severe PTSD. He said I have severe PTSD.. Will see what VA rates me.. (I’m a Vietnam Veteran)

I mentioned that I had claimed all three and she did not care! PTSD is in my VA record but who cares
