ОтветитьAwesome video
Does still worth buying used R710 on 2023? (to play with Kubernetes, Linux and publishing some web pages on public static IP)
My dad and I bought 3 servers just for fun lol. we love messing around with servers and computers. I turned my old gaming PC into a NAS with a disk array and I get 5TB with Gb speeds
ОтветитьI have 4 of those bad boys in my bedroom lol I’m use to it now but it took me forever to get use to the sound. Now to figure out the heat. 😅
ОтветитьI have a R620 and I just installed VMware ESXi 8.0. Just because it says its incompatible doesn't mean it wont work.
ОтветитьI was so scared of raid controller and VMware. After this video itself. I became a pro over night. Thank you for keeping your video up. Will be looking at more of your contents.
ОтветитьVery usefull content, @NetworkChuck congrats!
I'm building my home lab using Dell PE r710, but while i'm trying to download vSphere ESXI 6.5 (because the official VMWare official website only have available versions 6.5 and 7.0) automatically the download page is redirect to version 7.0. Someone here have alternative location where i can found the ESXI version 6.5 or 6.7?
i have one i got for 40$ and put 160gigs of ram in it ecc
ОтветитьI recently got my hands on a Dell Poweredge R630 and wanted to setup some sort of web dev environment, do you have any video showing how to create that, or future topic idea? ;)

Is there a way to install Ubuntu on a windows server, cause i am buying a server which uses windows server it has about 200 something GB of ram and about 280GB storage and is a decent amount!
ОтветитьI am confused here. Everywhere I read or any video i view someone always states that ESXi is "Free". I agree to disagree on this one (unless someone reading my Diatribe proves me wrong). First, the ESXi "free" License is only good for 60-days, this is NOT free!!!! This is all fine and dandy if someone only evaluating for Company purposes. Now for a Home Lab (which is my case) I need a Virtualization environment to be forever and 60-days is NOT forever. Also, I can't afford thousands of dollars per year for a ESXi License. My question to all you experts in the VMware world is can I get an actual "Free" License for ESXi that will last forever?
ОтветитьI'm trying to absorb everything in this realm quickly to make some business decisions. Thanks for all the helpful information you share.
ОтветитьYou will be paid peanuts for this kind of work. What is valuable is learning SDN, configuring rules, RADIUS etc
ОтветитьThe hardware compatability nonsense of VMware is a royal pain in the rear.
ОтветитьWhat's the point of having a home server? Like is it worth paying all that money for that enterprise device? Newbie here
ОтветитьThose are slow computers and very power-hungry at that (they also generate a large amount of heat and sounds). I don't get why people are still buying them.
ОтветитьBeen trying to set up a vmware 7 ha cluster and have been having same issue. CPUs are compatible and that's about it. Tried several 10g nics, newer raid cards, icing on the cake was so needed a cache drive for the vsan and had to get an optane nvme on an add in card for the active and passive nodes. Still working on it, active, passive, and center servers are Lenovo RD440 with dual cpu and 128gb ram each and am old HP elitedesk g1 xeon workstation for the witness machine.
ОтветитьThank you for this video. It really got me on the right track. I installed VMware ESXi using your instructions. I even bought the server you suggested. It works great and i'm learning......FAST! Again, thanks bruh!!👍😄
ОтветитьThanks for the video.
ОтветитьWow, remember trying to use my PE 2850 for 64bit VM, not happening. Now days, I don't want to touch hardware don't want the added responsibly for managing it. Have a R610 collecting dust since 2017.
ОтветитьChuck,
I have a Dell R830 Server, and I need to have several virtual machines (Windows OS and Linux OS). Additionally, I need to run a Could Service Storage or NAS on this Dell machine.
My point is; what would you recommend me?
Would you suggest installing Ubuntu and then using Docker Containers to run Virtual Machines and Cloud/ NAS?
OR.
Do I need to install VMware and run Virtual Machines and Cloud Storage/NAS?
Is ESXi still free? When I click the download link it wants me to do a trial. But I don't see an actual "free version" anywhere
ОтветитьCan i access anywhere
ОтветитьHe can't be nerd not having a VGA cable at hand ;)
ОтветитьI simple love your videos man, you are very talented and funny at the same time, which makes me enjoy learning from you even more. A big hug from Mozambique 🇲🇿
ОтветитьHi, could you explain why the raid settings to 5? Or anymore info on that plz
ОтветитьFirst of all, coffee break!!!.......
This video was awesome! I bought a server for my company but I read that is necessary a static ip address and a firewall to configure the ip addess. So if you create another video configuring fortinet or something like that, this video will be part of a certification!!!! thanks!!
coffee break!!...
i should buy a server and launch some vms with automation scripts to do some stuff for me.. i like the video :) there are so many ways to earn income with this. time to save some money lol
ОтветитьGreat video.
ОтветитьI would have chosen for proxmox
ОтветитьThe R720 you have should support vSphere 7. I have it on my machine.
ОтветитьI got it working on my laptop esxi 7 couldn't get server working ip issues
ОтветитьWhen you think of a server, you think of this. But in actuality, this is not really a server; rather, it is a computer that can run a server ON IT. Not to be pedantic, but a server is really just software, or a program, that listens for incoming connections, such as a file server, a web server, a DNS server, ect. All of these are just software that has uses an open port to listen for incoming connections, and then to, well, serve a request. Hence the name.....server. If you are in I.T. you already know this, but for the average person, this will be an inspirational piece of knowledge.
Ответить🙏🌺😇
ОтветитьAmazing.
ОтветитьCan you please please do a video on possible ways to add network files to local search index in all the computers of the same network
ОтветитьI know this is a older video now but I just bought a r720 and let's just say plex is getting a major upgrade! This will now be my 4th machine to add to the power bill lol
ОтветитьI have a poweredge r630, how do I get access to vmware? It won't let me get the 6.5 or the 6.7 and what hardware do I need in my server to boot it up properly
ОтветитьAwesome 🤘👍👍
ОтветитьUse esxi compatibility list for hardware sir 😜
ОтветитьProxmox might have been a better choice.
ОтветитьI have an old 1st gen Xeon but I can not download version 6.7 anymore. Do you guys have any solution?
ОтветитьI am also own a refurbished PowerEdge R710
ОтветитьI also own a r710. Great device. But Amazon sucks.
Ответитьhow do we cluster the hyper visor to ensure HA?
ОтветитьDis is s hypervisor 1
Ответитьyou should always use the iso file dedicated to the brand instead of the vmware one :)
Ответитьthanks for the acknowledge, love your presentation.
Ответитьthanks
