Unfortunately, most people come to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and take a picture and move on. The Baptistery of the Cathedral of Pisa is the largest Baptistery in the world. Italians should prohibit all the junk around Piazza dei miracoli. This part is paradise for different kind of scammers.

How to book ahead to climb the tower?

ROK - you forgot about the guards singing in the BAPTISTRY - where notes sung can sound for 12 seconds or more - it's amazing

Pisa has much more to offer travellers and the city deserves to be discovered. The locals are friendly, the Italian food is great and the city is full of history and things to do.

Pompeii was a port town and it's landlocked now. We go to Pisa within a month.
