I know it's late for a comment, but, does anyone know that the Hellcat 6.2 is not a hemi at all? It has flat pistons and, at best, a mildly hemispheric combustion chamber. I own one, but know it is not a true "Hemi" in the classic sense.

What if Chrysler developers made into production back in the late 60's to early 70's a 426 cubic inch double over head cam hemi?... or a 426 hemi SixPak?... well Chrysler engineers did just that. Back in 1970-1971 they were experimenting with a SixPak intake manifold (3- two barrel carbs setup) to try to comply with the government regulations, & the gas crunch that was starting. But before that- in mid 1969 Chrysler found out ford was considering releasing a Single over head cam monster of an engine for nascar, so Chrysler engineers got busy in creating two prototype engines that was a Double Over Head Camshafts in custom heads & valve train & created the 426c.i. DOHC HEMI!
Imagine the horsepower & torque from this giant, & imagine this engine in the Daytona Charger & Roadrunner Superbirds.

THE 225 hp rating of the 426 is a joke. I SEEN a dynamic test of '67 1 with headers added that made 700 hp. AND as soon as people got the cars off the showroom floor, customers installed headers on them.

There is no doubt that Officer Qualls had equal skills of any Nascar drivers of the time. This will be forever remembered .

In the "real world" a 6 pack 440 car is faster than a Hemi car providing everything between the 2 cars are the same. This has been proven over and over again. Not sure about what show it was, but I think that it was Engine Masters who also confirmed that the 440-6 engine is quicker "in a quarter mile" than a Hemi.

Does this mean that the 426 HEMI is the grandfather to the Demon?

I used to have a coworker that was chevy only. He bragged ad-nauseum. One day, he finally admitted that there was a local guy with a HEMI, that was unbeatable. I never said a word.
I just smiled to myself on the inside.

A friend of a friend of mine had a 70' cuda with a Hemi that he raced. He was always trying to get the carb tuned up. It was finicky. This was back in the day of the mid 70s when plenty still roamed free on the streets.

They'd be a lot faster with modern tires and a modern 6 speed manual or 8 speed auto trans.

After the 1st piece of bull shit, I couldn't watch anymore, knowing more bullshit was to follow. The hemi headed engine was not developed for fighter planes. It was developed by Belgian carmaker Pipe in 1905 for Fiat's GP race car. In the '60's the drag strip stock classes were dominated by Fords & GM's. (NHRA Facts).
