ive done a similar test with totally different results. the sciencer you used here also is weather dependent, what wood you used, how much pressure you used against the wood. for example if you used different amounts of pressure on each test, this could give different results leading to a missleading experiment.
ОтветитьGreat test, thanks 👍
ОтветитьI always use CT1 it can also be used as a sealant in bathrooms and roofs etc.
ОтветитьI wish i'd watched this first, i bought some Gripfill Xtra to put a bit of architrave onto a wall that needed a slight bow to keep it flush with the wall. Gripfill Xtra is shit, it kept pulling away from the wall at one of either ends ....... even after me pressing it firmly in place for 10 mins. Really shit!
ОтветитьWhy mdf get plywood more strong
ОтветитьAnyone else hate gripfill orginal putty
Ответитьis not more kgs cause you are aplying leverage?
Ответитьperhaps gripfill EXTRA is more suited for less rough surfaces ,but it should market it as that, maybe on plastic to plastic grip it does better ? hmm
Ответитьgreen gripfill i always use , £3 a tube on amazon ,most other things such as gorilla is marketing trash
ОтветитьGreat test boss we need more of these product testing
ОтветитьJust pity to not see all result on Excel or something like that.
Thanks for this information.
Which Masonry Grip Adhesive would you use for retainer walls caps?
ОтветитьGood informative video, with the minefield of products out thereWhich silicon do you recommend for sealing showers? I once remember you advising a 79%+ silicon, but the tube information, doesn't specify how much silicon is present, in the tube content make up.
ОтветитьAll suitable for yer apples and pears
ОтветитьIsn’t it a bit like washing powders, tablets, pods, most of it is marketing and bullshit, that we all fall for, but really doesn’t help, how many companies make the products?
Toothpaste is another 🤯 not one of your finest, in fact far from it, substrate failure, it’s a suggestion but how about advice on the right one for the right issue at hand and what to take into account, like drilling a hole to hang a bracket or hanging basket, great if the bricks are new, but old bricks that are softer? If you get my drift! Basically does it do what it says on the tin?
V good video, really well made. Thank you
ОтветитьWent to a job in Glasgow where the kitchen cabinets had been gripfill originalled to the wall with 2 nails holding them up while it dried . When the woman filled the big one with soup tinns and whatnot it came down along with the plaster skim coat .
Very dangerous .
So confusing what to buy
ОтветитьGreat test. I'm a Stixall fan. Its fantastic stuff in the mid price range. £6.50 ish
Ответитьwait what wood glue and you didn't test the industry standard? this must be for decking whatever .. titebond is the benchmark in the industry, for joist glue or stair tread glue whatever long is it has the specs you need its all relatively the same, beware of cure times, they all have various cure times so be sure they all get their cure time and are being used for their specific applications ..
also, the glues you are using aren't designed for shear, they are designed for lift and squeak, like you might lay a bead down on your joists before you put your plywood down on a floor, or a bead on your risers before screwing down your treads, this isn't really for bond more than it is anti squeak, so again be sure your application is appropriate, just cuz some of these are tearing away doesn't mean they're not good for treads and flooring cuz if some of your glue crystallizes it can break up and chip away then its not doing its job, a good floor or tread glue wants a slight pliability to it ..
generally is fairly east to tell what a glue is for by its container, if its in a glue gun container then its general for flooring or strait treads .. some are wood to wood, nailed wood to wood screw, wood to substrate, wood to concrete, always be sure to inspect your application to the tee, many are multi purpose .. application application application
Gripfill then £2.46 now £3.49 :O
ОтветитьSoudal makes me proud to be Belgian. Their products never disappoint.
ОтветитьWhy does Roger reminds me a lot of Nicko Mc Brain?
ОтветитьPink Grip may be good BUT the nozzle is not screw-on so you can't cling film the cartridge to use another day. Is that why it is labelled not for DIY use?
ОтветитьNice comprehensive and concise test. Feel a lot more confident in these products now, ta!
ОтветитьJust a fun fact.Alot of these tube adhesives come from the aerospace industry and work their way down from there.
ОтветитьCan any of these be used for my car’s front bumper? 😂
ОтветитьNot sure you need to censor out words that are frankly in common usage.. This is a channel for builders etc who are not exactly snowflake types..
ОтветитьI'm a decorator and was asked to clean the inside of 3 pot lights 1823 house lights were around 40 years old as she had a couple of wasp's nest in her attic took the caps off the first 2 to get to the light bulbs cleaned them out come to the third one went to take the cap off and the light fell out of the ceiling the plaster had cracked out what the clips were attached too tried ob1 to stick the cylinder to the ceiling didn't work was surprised it couldn't hold a light up used to stick lose render and paster back but couldnt hold a bloody light certainly wouldn't trust any of them to hold a dado rail picture's door frames etc
ОтветитьStix like shit and polyurethane adhesives are my go to , never had a problem
ОтветитьI'll stick with green grip fill, cheap and works.
ОтветитьPink grip is good stuff and good price but the pink can complicate jobs if it oozes out a little
ОтветитьWe don't have those types of adhesives here in the USA. The gorilla brand is the one is supposed to be best supposed it 💯. Who knows.
ОтветитьThis is a good one but pretty much non of them are instant but what a tradesman wants to know is how long will it take to stick enough to continue a project. I suggest a 1hr 2hr 3hr and 4hr test or something like that?
ОтветитьWhich would you use to stick a aluminium channel to a shower tray? The tray is a plastic skinned stone resin.
ОтветитьInteresting thanks 👍🏻
ОтветитьPlywood would have been a better substrate to use.
ОтветитьFantastic video. Well-designed real-life tests. Superb.
ОтветитьI have been using CT1 since the 2000's. I only buy cheaper products if performance is not required. I like CT1 as it doesn't give off odour when setting, and can be smoothed out/tooled very nicely if Multisolve is sprayed on it. A tip for anyone using CT1 to make repairs is to use the aluminium repair mesh (Halfords) If the CT1 one is applied through the mesh it makes an extremely strong patch repair.
If needing mould resistant sealant in bathrooms, use BT1. It has additional mould inhibitors over the standard CT1. Very usefully, Toolstation now stock CT1 colours, BT1 and now Multisolve!
If the MDF failed in some of the samples, why shouldn’t it fail in all the other tests as the MDF is of a consistent construction?
ОтветитьReally bad idea used to test... You only need a few things to make it correct and more scientific, simple things.
ОтветитьUsed to use that regular Gripfill, but didn't like the way it skinned over, now prefer Pinkgrip.
ОтветитьSo what was the end result? what was the cheapest product to pass the test?
ОтветитьX8 was my go to adhesive as a tradesman, but now I use Puraflex 40 simply because of price.
ОтветитьYou came unstuck there mate.
ОтветитьGreat test and review Skill Builder! Could you list which lower price end of these dry completely solid / hard, so they can be doubled as a wall / gap / crack filler? Thank you
ОтветитьWhat about instant grab? Often they're advertised as such but are any of those claims really true?
ОтветитьNone of these can beat Maxitec sumogrip super fast adhesive.
ОтветитьFor a test this haphazard the results were pretty consistent. The consistency of glue, just about.
ОтветитьI would have thought the most popular brand "No More Nails" would have been included.
Ответить
