I really like the way that we can open many 'scaler windows,' but I'm wondering how much CPU power is being use for that process? At any rate, I like the option just the same!

Will the software show scales, chord variations and voicings on a guitar fretboard?

I was just thinking - whoever designed and programmed Scaler is a fantastic team, wonderful workflow and usability. THEN... these tutorials are brilliantly delivered, so clear, nicely shot, and packed to the brim with useful info. Bravo.

The more of these extremely valuable videos one sees, the more you realize what an absolute monster this software is, incredibly deep and powerful. A total eye opener in terms of just how valuable this is to anyone who prefers to jump right into composing/creating without being bogged down by having to learn music theory, whilst at the same time learning about music theory.

This plugin has been such a wonderful writing tool and it's helping me learn theory as I go. The chords I like to hear go way beyond my theory training, and it's awesome to be able to quickly put a name to a particular sound and start to make connections. Bravo! Do you think it's possible to offer the same B-block chord voicing menu in the C block, so transformations on the progression can be quickly auditioned instead of just for the currently selected scale? I know it's possible to do quick inversions with the editor, but I think the voicings are doing more than inverting the chords.

The MIDI FX function is really convenient. Most other DAWs require routing from Scaler's output to the VSTi's, input which means using 2 instrument tracks. With this MIDI FX option you only need 1 instrument track.

Just got this yesterday. I know enough about scales to piece things together, but just having chords available is so much faster. I don’t really know what some of the chords I create are. I just go off my ear with a defined scale.

That said, I wish they’d give us the option of having a 2 octave range of chords centered around the root note of the scale we choose. For example, if I want to easily use dynamic voicing and try going down in pitch from the root triadinstead of just up.
Cmajor triads:
-2-3-4-5-6 C 23456

Right now, I have to select chords with dynamic voicing on, then turn dynamic voicing off, edit the chords, snd I can pitch them up or down an octave as I see fit….but the dynamic voicing of the chords notes doesn’t change since it’s off, so I have to do it manually which slows things down.
creatively, i think 2 octaves being readily available with the chords in dynamic voicing mode would be much better.

If this is available, let me know. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I’ve only had this plugin for 2 days.

Hi Davide, this software is just awesome & inexpensive. Your instructions are also great and your delivery language is to all skill levels without elitist judgement despite the fact that you are world famous and your collaborative team also. I get extra national pride because you are an Aussie company taking it to the world. Thank you for this light in a darkened, Plague filled lockdown world, just champions!

Astonishing application, never realized how capable it is.

Future feature request.. Please incorporate options to improve visibility, perhaps a tab menu at the top that would give a full page to work with each section. Would love be have that amazing monitor However even if I did it would be nice for laptops..

As a guitarist it would also be very cool to have a realistic fretboard with highlighted chords and melodies to transpose Scalers magic for guitar tabs.

Hi Davide,

Can this quick method be duplicated in protools with the way protools works?

I’m trying to think of a way to be able to do this without making so many tracks of scaler to control another kontakt instrument like the way you are doing here in logic via midi Fx but in Protools.

This is honestly the most intuitive and humanized plug in I’ve ever seen. Graduated from the most prestigious music college in the world, I’m completely blown away by how ridiculously intelligent this plugin is, and Trust me on this, scaler is saving all of you guys at least one third of our tuition (which covers 90% of the courses that are core music focused) and that’s biiiig bucks. The fact that this team has dedicated so much of their knowledge and expertise into this wise tool most thoughtfully while still sell it at a more than reasonable price is crazy to me (just think about all of those $50 5 knobs reverb plugins for christ’s sake) Mad respect to you and the entire Scaler team sir, musicians much like yourselves is one of the main reasons why I think music is the most freakin’ cool and awesome thing in the entire universe. The way I’m seeing it, this plugin is by far the best gap eliminating machine between the “Professionally Trained” and the “Enthusiasts”, some humanitarian legacy right there. After all music is an art, and this tool is going to give so many the freedom to solely focus on art and the feelings it provoke, not mathematics (what music theory fundamentally is). Plus these tutorials really show how much they care about their creation and the users, just simply amazing. Wishing you guys all the abundance and fulfillment in this vibrant Tiger Year, cheers! — Some random female producer.

I set out to find a simple plugin to show me what chord I was playing, because I felt like that would be a different but effective way of learning.
Got Scaler 2 and not only did it do what I wanted (I can change a note/finger in the chord position and SEE immediately that it makes it a "minor", for instance.)
But it does WAAAY more than I anticipated. I can start playing a few chords and the plugin will show me other chords that will work with those.
Fantastic!

Often times I "paint" my MIDI notes out, but it is fun to just play around using key binding (a single key press will play a chord).

That alone is more than enough for me... but then we get into the PERFORMANCE section, and that takes it to a whole new level.
I know some may consider it "cheating" but for those of us who missed out on proper music education, it's a great way to accomplish something that sounds "right", while learning a little music theory along the way.

EXCELLENT VIDEO! I am really enjoying learning how to use Scaler and I am impressed with all the features. I have a couple of questions. Since I am using Ableton Live I had to adapt some of what you showed in the video and it all went well. In one instance, when you showed the Playback Performances, around the twenty minute mark, you could assign an individual performance to each chord but I could only assign one performance (like arpeggio) to the entire progression, In the left column my Scaler shows only "Group". Also, is there a back button or function, so that when I try a chord substitution and do not like it I can just go back to my original chord? Thanks.
