Thanks for the good info, I am going to try the ForJars products. However, I think they really should be upfront in the FAQ's about where the lids are manufactured. All the subterfuge makes them look rather shady.

I have never canned and am getting ready to can whole tomatoes for my first project. I don't understand the popping dilemma. Are you saying the 4jars lid don't pop ever? How do you know they are sealed if they don't pop? I didn't know lids popped when you canned and I am going to be using ball...so they are supposed to make a popping sound when I can them or visually the center goes down and they pop when I open?

I have been trying the For Jars and Superb lids time will tell but so far so good. Seen a video on Make it Make which hinted at new line of jars from For Jars. Hopefully they will be as good the lids

Both, Ball and Kerr and Golden Harvest are all made by the same factory. I think Ball owns Kerr (I believe they bought Kerr a couple of years a go. I do know that Ball owns Golden Harvest!

I became discouraged (almost gave up)as a new canner 2 years ago when the Ball/Kerr lids that came with case of jars had/have a high failure rate, Lisa at Suttonsdaze was running test on lids I bought she found be good Forjars is the go to lid for me too. 99% seal rate

I usually use Ball, but the prices are high and they have been hard to get. I went with some off brands. I had problems with some I got from WalMart and I don't seem to have the knack for the reusable lids. During February, Harvest Right had a give away and one of the channels talked about For Jars lids that works well with using them when you seal and re-seal their freeze fried items in jars. I'm interested in your input and hope to try the For Jar lids soon.

I have been canning pretty solid for the last three years, and the only failure I had with a ForJars lid was my error, I creased an edge and it didn't seal, but that was completely on me and how I applied it to the jar. Other than that, it is a jar that is chipped and I didn't catch, again on me for not looking. ForJars has a great product, and I loved your review and comparison to the Ball lids, as I have noticed the same thing. My Ball lids have become my dry storage lids, disposable, not being used to seal things shut, just back ups, because of that button issue. Glad I'm not the only one that has noticed that. Great content!

My last 2 packs of ball lids were awful! 4 jars didn’t seal straight out of the canner! When I looked the lids over the red rubber was super thin! No wonder they failed. I called 4jars but was SO unhappy when they told me they are actually made in China

Many reasons to LOVE Forjars. Quality materials. Made in USA. Bulk purchase options.
Ball was once a company dedicated to food preservation. The company merged and sold several times over the decades. Currently Canning supplies are just a sideline product feom a major glass manufacturer. In my opinion they no longer care about the canning supplies since it's such a fraction of their business.

4 jars. Made in Chinese sweat shops. Ball/kerr made by Indianas finest. 😂 😂 😂 The seal is made out of Plastisol . Not silicon

Its so pretty there, especially in autumn. Sometimes I miss NH. Two decades ago we lived in Hudson briefly, and then Brookline for a couple years. We used to go to Parker's Maple Barn for breakfast as a treat once in awhile (in Mason? I think.), they had the most amazing food. I wouldn't be able to eat most of it these days, but the memories are still delicious.
Thanks for sharing about the canning lids. Where we are in Oregon, I haven't been able to even find wide mouth Ball or Kerr canning lids in over two years. And regular mouth usually only with rings, and I definitely dont need any more rings. I'll check out the for jars lids when I run out of what I have.

Hi Jack. Not trying to stir up anything but if your lid fails for some reason, wouldn't gas build up inside and pop that Ball lid popper up? I don't do full on canning, only pickling, so I'm no expert. Just the quality of the ForJars lids would have me buying them. Cheers!!

I need to give them and Superb a try. I honestly haven't had the issues that others have had with the B@11 lids. And I also.have had great luck.with Golden Harvest lids. But, I haven't purchased them in a few years as I stocked up early in the pandemic. So, the issues may be with more recent manufacturing.

Sounds like the guys on the floor stop caring. I work as a machinist and I've seen shops go from "stop production till we fix the problems" to "just ship it", due to bad management, and loosing veteran workers who actually quality control that stuff as machines are running. Usually ends up in loosing lots of customers fast, but takes a while for that to settle in.

💥I stopped using Ball lids just because they were never in stock. I found an off-brand that works even better and is cheaper.
Keep on tractoring!

I had bought several non-ball/kerr lids not long ago, I lost a dozen pints with the lid failing after a week of seemingly being ok. In the comments on a Homestead Heart video, I saw dozens of people swearing by this brand, especially since it's USA made. I just ordered a crapload, trying to get them before they get overwhelmed with orders with more people making videos on them, ha. I'm 100% sure they'll be of higher quality than most lids out there.
