Lynel Basics, Attack Patterns, Strategies & More | BotW

I was FIGHTING for my life when I first encountered a Lynel by the Lanayru gate just because I tried to hit it with an arrow. It felt like his arrows were ceaseless as they fell from the sky with that ridiculously accurate aim.

I encountered my first lynel today, i had 5 arrows, a travelers sword and a boko shield .. couldnt beat him so i came here 😅

First lynel i killed was the zora domain one . Sido told me to go sneak around and collect shock arrows from the lynel, sneaking was a pain so I just killed the lynel. It was harder than the elephant beast boss fight lol

I've been struggling with the lynels in this game so much
Idk whether it's just because I'm not used to switch or if I just don't have the right gear to protect me but even the weakest lonely I cannot kill no matter what method I try....
I get like 3 hits in if I'm lucky...
I just don't want to resort to ancient arrows because it destroys EVERYTHING they are holding....
Weapons, ect...
It breaks my heart cause I really want to achieve this but I just don't have enough rupees or gear or anything and I've been struggling so hard

I can‘t fight the ones with the crusher, i just can not dodge their attacks!!! It doesn‘t work!

I just spent a half hour fighting one, only for it to disappear just as i was about to beat it. Wtf 😭😭😭😭 im so mad

To beat stronger enemies I need to learn to parry and dodge I’m terrible at it lol.

I cant dodge or do anything, game is way to hard 😭

Excuse me if this was already said, but there are 2 other ways to get on a Lynel’s back. If you glide in from a higher ledge or from Revali’s Gale before it sees you, you can glide onto the back and start the flight with 5 good whacks.

Alternatively, if you dodge the charge that happens when it puts away its weapon, if you hurry, you can run up to that centaur wannabe when it halts and mount its back before it regains itself.

The only lynels that break my balls are the ones equipped with crushers since I find it hard to parry or back flip away from their spinning attacks. Regardless of the lynel color.

I don't bother with the stunning of the lynels honestly, I've gotten the timing almost down to dodge attacks perfectly or to where I take no damage most of the time. When they roar, i run away and then run back taking opportune slashes at the lynel. A tip I recommend for facing lynels is to carry more swords or spears/halberds than heavy weapons like the claymore or great elemental blades, as when you get a flurry rush, you get more hits with a spear or sword than the heavy blades. Though the heavy blades are good if you can mount the lynel

I remember I used to be afraid of Lynels, now I just hunt them down out of boredom. That and also to farm shields.

The red are the essiest?! I just got wrecked several times by my first encounter with one. I ended up just running away.

If you don’t want to die constantly when battling lynel to hone your skills, get the soldier armor upgrade to the max. It’s the best defense armor that can take a lot of beating from lynels or any enemies. 😀

When a lynel is getting ready to breathe fire balls
Toss a bomb in front if him and activate it
If u time it right
The resulting implosion will result in the lynel getting stunned allowing u to mount

I used every method here and killed a white Lynel without a single death. It was fun.

How to defeat a Lynel:
Step 1: you dont.

There's no enemy that I hate more in this game than a lynel.

why dont enemies weapons break? Like when i use lynel weapon it breaks, why doesnt a lynel break its own weapon???

I avoid Lynels like the plague. I absolutely suck at battling them. I get so flustered 🤦🏼‍♀️

So I was just farming a golden lynel, trying to get that coveted 100 atk savage lynel sword, before the SWORD lynel jumped up into the air, landing woth his sword. Me, being experienced in parrying lynel attacks(humble brag), shield parried it even though I hadn't seen it before. This makes lynels even cooler in my eyes.

I’m trying to do a furry rush, on it but didn’t work do why

Hearing you calmly say, "Shoot him in the face" had me cracking up hahaha

Flurry Rush can easily break my weapons during my playthrough both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom

I like the game I really do...so much so a few weeks after I got my switch lite I decided to get a Switch Oled TOTK edition....but these lynels scare the bejesus out of me lol I can avoid them but I really want to upgrade the cool barbaian armour and I want their weapons.

My personal favorite never fail strategy for dealing with Lynel's: don't bother! I quickly grew tired of 30-45 minute white knuckle edge of your seat anxiety inducing fights that ALWAYS culminate in your death. Ain't no body got time for that. I straight up skip them dudes.

I killed my first Lynel, got high off the win, and charged at every Lynel I saw from that point onward. I killed, like, two more before I engaged one with only two weapons on me. I got bodied.

I went from thinking it was impossible to killing 4 lynels in 2 days to upgrade my barbarian armor.
I wore the barbarian armor set for extra attack power.
I took a +12 (or more) extra hearty simmered fruit, then a high level defense bonus food (tough mushroom skewer or tough seafood skewer) and of course saved first, then just went up to him with my best weapon and went to town on him.
I died pretty quickly a few times, but then I beat 1 yesterday and 3 today.
I was able to upgrade all my barbarian pieces to level 1.

I tried 15 times to kill my first label and almost broke my switch. not very helpful

I’m gonna practice by going back to a previous save to try and fight it again and again
