I love that he shows that all dogs can find a home, as long as they are a right fit for the owner

I am so glad cesar millan finally got exposed for the big fake animal abuser that he really is. His way of training dogs is not approved by any of the major dog organizations. I am just sorry he is trying to make a come back.

In the end, breed still matter a little bit to me, I would never adopt a Chihuahua or a dog with a size like them 🤷‍♂️

This is silly. Choosing a dog based on where in the run it stands? Do you expect they stay in those positions all the time? No, they would interchange. Silly.

I found 3 puppies abandoned in the woods. I found homes for all 3. One was blond boy dog, food growly. One was a girl, runt, wiggly and energetic. The one I would have wanted to keep, but I had 2 dogs at the time, was the girl pup who quietly walked up to me an put her chin on my knee.

It's pretty risky, you never really know its history, either health or emotional. Unless you're an experienced dog owner, I wouldn't recommend adopting an adult dog from a shelter. It's not fair to the dog either if you can't take care of it properly and return it after a week.

I adopted a dog, but now a year later I think he needs a sibling. I’m home during the week but i don’t get to play with him all day like he would like. I thought of taking him with me to a shelter to help me pick out a sibling. Has anyone tried this? Is this even recommended?

Cesar said, in one of his books, to take the shelter dog you are considering on a walk to see how you go together. Like test driving a car. This video shows that but was too quick to mention it.

Helpful
A lot of people are looking for a dog who also needs a home. The right shelter mutt or free-to-a-good-home dogs are who they're looking for but have no dog experience. Very helpful to focus on behavior and the individual dog's temperament.

Dogs at shelter for adoption need behaviorist with humans to work temperament assessment through. People adopt the wrong dogs, then return them or silently euthanize them. It's pandemic. Get a skilled behaviorist to help you pick the right dog and introduce it once in your home. Makes life SO MUCH EASIER for all!

I have contacted many rescue shelters but they all want hundreds of dollars to allow the adoption and then they choose if you get the dog or not. It’s very odd. So I went elsewhere to rescue. This video breaks my heart that so many of them need homes yet many good hearted, willing and experienced dog-people are discouraged from helping or flat turned away. Sad. Very sad.

When I was 11 and adopted my first rescue from the shelter, she was loud, in charge, and at the front barking. I was so excited and thought she'd be the best to play with (my kid mind thought so haha). We love and care for her dearly now, but looking back I probably should have adopted the dog in the back lol! I was inexperienced and my dog took charge for years until I learned 😂

400 in a shelter! My county has 3 adoption locations. All 3 combined have less than 30 dogs! There are dogs that are there for less than a day before they are adopted. There are long adoption lists where the shelters evaluate you and choose the best candidate before they will even let you meet the dog. It is not first come first serve around here. As a result, people are picking dogs based on their picture and pressure because their chance of getting selected again to meet another dog is so low.
I have been looking for a month and have not gotten a chance yet to meet a dog.

I would pick a large dog that wanted to be around me steady. They would sit beside me and not leave, i would tear up that sheet as any new dog need time to learn the routine at home. I have 3 now a 15 year old golden lab cross and a English springer and a border collie cross. My dogs are watch dogs not guard dogs there job is to let me know some one is around the place. Golden lab is scary enough alone. Most men cringe at his sight and bark. You can hear him 1/2 block away ADD THE BORDER COLLIE NOW. He is scary enough just him. Oh they all have there nuts and we live as a pack with me as the leader. one feed dish one water bowl we share our food (dogs) oh and i don't have a leash i don't believe in them. Train your dog to stay beside you then toss out the leash. Train your dog, i have had large dogs in my life since i could walk. Cheers you are training ppl not dogs. I can look at at any of my dogs at any time and know how they will react simple i am retired and around my dogs 24/7 365 days a year. all 3 sleeping by my chair as i type keep it up ppl need to learn how to read your pet.

I only adopt senior dogs. I love them till the end. My duration is short and heart breaking every single time. But I return to the shelter and always ask for the dog no one wants and has been there the longest. They are so depressed and defeated. Then as we are leaving a light goes on in their eyes. When we get home it's what ever they want. Bed, couch treats and of course endless love and hugs. Everyone should try it. Nothing more rewarding than to save a life.

Dude, I wish Cesar Milan could be heard regularly in all dog homes. He breaks stuff down that most dog owners are too lazy or stubborn to think about. In the end, the dogs always get hosed. ANIMALS ARE NOT ITEMS TO BE BOUGHT AND ABUSED OR DISCARDED!!!

That bit about the dog in front for experienced owner, dog in back for inexperienced is brilliant. It would of never occurred to me, but makes perfect sense. It comes down to who will be the boss.

Unlike now where you have to grab them while you can.
We just loss our dog and we are having trouble finding a new one. A local shelter had 40 people apply for 9 puppies before it closed. We missed out.
One shelter is taking all good applications and have a lottery drawing.
Ine puppy was even adopted out from under us.
It is crazy!

The pandemic has created so many problems with adopting. Shelters will not even let you in without first putting in an application and selecting the dog you want to see online. Then, when you come, they will ONLY bring that dog out for you to see. So, you can't do as Cesar recommends and compare it with it's pack. Secondly, there is one local shelter that won't even let you adopt unless you have a totally fenced back yard and you live within a 60 mile radius of the shelter. It really seems silly to me. I have had 3 different dogs, all for 10-12 years each and never had an issue with my 3/4 fenced yard. Only my driveway isn't fenced, and they said "no". Utterly ridiculous. They have no idea that they totally ruined a beautiful life for the pup we had selected. It's actually a form of abuse for these animals to discount the prospective owner's ability to handle their adoptive pet, especially when I've had 3 in the past under the same situation.
