Chinese wine is very delicious but it seems this company has successfully commercialized it! Compared to traditional wine in Southeast Asia, it has an average taste and is not even that good

as a chinese person this is nothing to be proud of, the alcohol is also often associated with greedy business owners and corrupt politicians. Instead of making this alcohol one of the top assets we should be focusing on science and technology

As a person live in PRC. I can tell you why. Its market price strategy is similar to Rolex and even better. It’s hard to get a retail priced bottle (200 usd), but if you get one, you can sell to liquor deal for 350 usd right away. And most of ppl cannot get the retail price ones, and you can only buy market price ones from dealer for 450 usd. And the price is quite fixed, no huge fluctuations. As a product like this, no one care its value. They care about the superior price only, and purchase it as a conspicuous goods or luxury gift🙃 I knows it’s hyper overpriced, so I only consume Italian wines in China 😁 I hope my English make sense, cuz it’s my second language

@alap1983 - 18.05.2024 01:54

This is undoubtedly a VERY regional thing. Its popularity is due to the High local population, which translates to high local consumption.
The brand and the product must be facing a LOT of challenges because it has a very significant contradiction between the product's price and its appeal.
$350 for a single bottle... At this price, there are better products with far more value for money proposition.

seeing all the uncultured people commenting on how their undeveloped palates are incapable of enjoying baijiu is laughable.

this company surpassed Diageo in value selling to basically one country so they're laughing in billions of dollars while you make fun of the aesthetic/taste.

taste is subjective and that includes liquor. spending hundreds of dollars on a bottle of moutai is no different than spending hundreds on hennessy or blue label. expand your horizons and learn to enjoy other things.
