Is Amiberry multitasking or just for single game playing, I am using pimiga on my pi400 and if I try to play Shanghai and play music at the same time,the music shuts off, but on FS-uae it works great and I can run several programs at once like organizer, DM2, Shanghai, pen pal for data processing or writing. Now I notice with pimiga pen pal works but you get a bland center screen where the data should be, but if you click in that center screen the data pops up. Just wondering if amiberry is multi tasking like FS-uae, only thing I don't like about FS-uae it don't start the Amiga right off, but everything else works great.

Hey Dan can you help me please? I followed your tutorial thanks. I have a R-Pi 400. This is weird issue, I played one game (with the mouse and worked fine), then later the mouse (the one that came with the Pi) stopped working for no reason, this is in-game. I tried wiping the SD card and reinstalling the Raspberry PI and Amiberry tried again but mouse still doesnt work. When I go to the amiberry cfg screen the mouse works fine so I know the mouse words, its just not working in the games. Any ideas please?

My 400 has been an Amiga since the day I got it. The issues with KB and M compatibility were fixed within days of this video coming out. It plays everything up to and including 68060 software with ease, even emulating it with the benefits of the best FP co-processor

@Dan: respectfully, it’s not you. I stopped watching this vid after about 12 minutes. The number of steps required to get this working, for me, isn’t worth it. Like I said, it’s not you, other emulators on/for the raspberry pi have too many steps to get this kind of stuff working.

I've just recently gotten back into the Amiga - recently gotten my hands on a recapped A600 with a gotek and IDE HDD inside and a recapped A1200 with a TF1230 accelerator card, Kickstart 3.2 ROMs, internal and external CF card add ons.

Finding now that the actual physical diskettes no longer work or are corrupted due to age and the iron oxide failing.

Think I might have to do the Pi emulator. Just a shame that right now they're all out of stock.

One question is though is which other Pi would be a good option other than the 400 kit?

I have to say it works great, but I still like my Amiga 1200 in a tower. There is a something about having actually CD-ROM, floppy drive etc. to be able to use this as "in old times". Yes, it is much slower, but this hardware component brings nostalgia. PS. For emulations I can do it on any PC.

I didn't have to use retropie. I just wrote Pimiga 2.0 directly to the SD card and it booted up with no problems. Well, I had to copy Kickstart on boot but, it worked. I also found a way to extract the WHD file and run it directly from WinUAE in Windows. Just in case you didn't have a Raspberry Pi 4. I had to use my linux laptop to access the main partition, but it worked.

I loved the keyboard form factor computers. I owned both an Amiga 500 and 1200. Also an Atari 800 .

what about the amiga 500 mini ? i am not good at installing all this software and do the configuration so for me the amiga mini is a better option.

I thought as soon as I first saw the pi400 that it would make a good 8nit and 16bit home computer emulation platform for things like the amiga (I have 2 1200s, but they require much more space than a pi400), ST (again I have a 1024ste upgraded to a 4096ste), msx (wish I still had mine! ), spectrum and others. Combined with a pi4 for console games (though you could equally use the pi400 which is better in terms of cpu clocks and especially cooling). I expect I'll eventually pick one up. Though I still want to get the 1200 and 1024sre set up and working at some point.

Yeah well so is a toaster or potato or any kind of kitchen appliance. They have enough power to run amiga games you don't see them getting any of the spotlight.

would it work with a old CRT monitor. amiga games move to fast for LCD monitors my IPS 165hz is just to slow.

I have a Pi400 and it is now in charge of my Steam engine & Photo DB, its soo nice and easy and no silly MS bullshit and bloatware, photo db on a 1tb ssd that worked from new,,,

Sorry if this is a dumb question but can you install retropie and PiMiga on the same 400? Im new to all this and while Im primarily interested in Amiga emulation I could see using RetroPie as well.

It's interesting that people use the Raspberry Pi predominantly as a desktop computer because that's not what it was originally designed to be. Originally it was designed to be a multi-usecase controller, like robotics, drones, CCTV, etc. Desktop is only one usecase of dozens.
