I'm struggling with the doctrine of salvation lately after feeling very certain in the past, due to Catholic vs Protestant discussions. It's particularly worrying for me because I've never been baptised. I also don't have a church to get baptised at, so it'll be some time before I'm able to find a church and get baptised. Then there's the question of whether or not I die before that happens, cause despite me being young, I don't know the future. I'm a protestant at the moment, but IF Catholicism is true, then that means I've never really been saved for my entire time as a Christian, since I haven't been baptised. There's also a number of other things that you need to do to be saved in Catholicism that I haven't done. It disturbs me, to think that the whole time I may have never actually been right with God, and he never heard my prayers. At the same time though, I see the protestant version of salvation clearly in the scripture. I'm just worried I've got it wrong, and it's constantly on my mind. I also don't have any good works, so even if I'm right about the doctrine of salvation, I still might not be saved, since that would indicate I don't have true faith. I keep studying, but never have any peace about this, and at times I just want to have never existed in the first place. That way I wouldn't even have to think about it.

I almost agreed with this but i think its more up faith, then salvation, then love and acceptance, then good works out of gratitude. Because while salvation is freely given we accept it by faith. Thats why its "by grace are ye saved through faith" our initial action is to recieve by trusting and believing in christ and what he did for us. Salvation being the first step kinda makes it seem like everyone is saved by default which wouldnt be true. The gift of salvation is out there for everyone to freely recieve but as the bible says time and time again to everyone who "believes" "has faith". All love brother stay safe

I disagree. From my experience I believe we should listen to Jesus's commandments first then do an action then see the good results then only have faith. That way we become more faithful whenever people say Jesus is not the real Messiah. I have listened and done what Jesus expects from the Bible and everything went well so my faith in Jesus grew. Like for example Jesus said love your neighbours as yourself. I prayed and God told me to care for others first before yourself that investment paid off as I was promoted and got an increment. Paul is talking about the works of the law. He's saying you don't have to get circumcised to get saved. Simple as that. James isn't talking about the works of the law.

What about the fruits? For years, you havent really talked about them nor holiness.

This video still implies 2 incorrect conclusions. The truth is that a Christian cannot lose their salvation because salvation is not predicated on what we do. Salvation does not require us to maintain our salvation because there is no righteousness in us to be able to maintain it. Salvation requires perfection. We cannot achieve or maintain it.

Paul and James are talking about two totally different topics. Paul is talking about how to get saved. James is talking about fellowship with God: how to maintain God's good graces while we are here on Earth; that is, how to grow and become spiritually mature. James is also talking about how to become an obvious Christian so that people see that you are a Christian.

When Orthodox church says “works” we don’t mean we earn it but Jesus said we must repent and Love people works for us its not simply doing good but deepening repentance and Follows God which is what we are called to do

I think the issue is with the word “alone” in sola fide. Faith is never alone

The desire to perform Works is proof of salvation… but no you don’t have to perform works to earn salvation

Young man, I don't like your way of going about things in the least bit. Your little smart guy act I don't find cute. You come across as arrogant rather than wise and to one wise it's very apparent. So then it comes down to we are saved by grace through faith and created for good works in Christ Jesus. Simple enough to comprehend.

Works are tied with Faith, if you truly have Faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, you will follow the Ten Commandments which say Love everyone as the Lord loved you. You can't be Faithful and Evil, or Gentle and Unfaithful, it doesn't work that way

Another explanation I feel is better: Instead of Faith Vs Works it should be Justification vs Sanctification
Justification thru Faith = Acceptance with God (adopted by God with direct access to Him) and Sanctification thru Works = Relationship with God (growing pains thru interactions to develop intimacy with God).
Like the difference of being Married vs the quality of the Marriage. Or being a child vs what kind of relationship the child has with their parent.

Im actually trying to really look into if you can lose your salivation or not. Ive seen some good debates between trent horn and james white. Im so frustrated.

well james doesnt say u will be justified by God thru your works, does it?
it says abrahams justification was completed when he also worked, giving the scriptural evidence of him being called the friend of God. But who and when was that in the Scripture? in the old testament people gave him that title, while God justified him on the spot before his works:

“Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.”

so what was james saying then?
that we should be careful to do good works so others may justify us and because others may be in need of help and we should help by the authority of Christ being made children of God, carrying His will.
So then why is faith dead without works?
cuz some starving people will not get any benefit from your faith being alone:

If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? salvation itself is a gift of God
like being saved from Hell in that you got ending up in Heaven as a guaranteed gift of Grace
Therefore you cant earn it and be a gift
But u arent allowed to mix works and grace in saying one completes the other or makes the other a reliable source of existence

When exactly am i saved by Grace? do i need to keep the faith on my own my whole life for me to be justified?

But what must i believe then to have faith?

That i am sinless because the blood of Christ and by believing it and keeping (finding it to be correct/faith) this doctrine exactly as it is, thru this faith i shall be saved instantly!
But what if i may forget the Gospel or later choose to believe it is false for various reasons (like personal free will choice or being deceived)?

i cant forget the testimony of my faith (me agreeing that the Gospel) is in fact correct, because after the very moment i set my hope upon the Gospel, Christ shall maintain my hope!

also, i get to possess instantly eternal life (meaning eternal salvation and eternal rebirth meaning eternally being birth of God, si nothing can unown me)
But what about good deeds? they dont matter to salvation, they dont add to it nor do they complete it, but they are good, just and useful. God shall discipline you into them:

So good deeds are the correct moral choices to further make and seek to make, but what about abstaining from sin?
Would excesive sin affect salvation?
it would if God didnt pay for all your sins:

But why should i stop sinning if it doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things?
Because if salvation will not be your single concern during your life then you must rely and follow the truth of other doctrines.
Sin is evil and we know and believe this, after all God came to die because of our sin, which killed us in past times. Why should u believe sin is good or helpful if the God u placed your faith in said sin is evil?
Therefore abstain from evil and walk in the newness of your regeneration. Matter of fact we shall believe sin is evil due to the birth

But do we have free will or do we gots to be regenerated first to believe?
Well its a commandment to believe so its safe to assume its something u can perform on your own;
And u get the true work of God after your faith:

which is safe to assume that u can perform and wont affirm that u got to be regenerated to believe, due to the true regeneration being afterwards.
And if im told God must do something in order for me to believe yet i see no refference of Him doing something even similar beforehand, knowing that He promised to do His work after my faith, then the calvinistic and sovereign grace theology position fails to affirm biblical truth, meaning you got to anathema it..

I don’t like it. Works is a necessity to have genuine faith. Grace is independent of your works and faith. It is simply your choice to take the offer. We offer our faith in order to receive grace. Works must accompany your faith or else it is dead. If your faith is dead you have relinquished salvation. I think lol

The problem is, how do you build faith if it's weak? The bible doesn't give clear instruction on how to do this.

Ya but Jesus never said that. Jesus taught us to repent and forgive. Without repenting and forgiveness we're not saved. You don't ever want to hear Jesus say to you When I was hungry you turned me away.

How do I believe?

I find myself struggling with mental illness and sin and it seems they both have caused me to somehow change in being. From this loving warm boy who values and is passionate about truth, aka God.

To a fool who seems to have changed because of idolatry and an actual inability to remember, to believe, to not seek help. A fool who keeps living in pleasure while almost ignoring God yet still chiming in to his word whenever he's scrolling on social media looking for "worthy" videos that deserve likes. This boy finding comfort in his introspective assumptions, metacognitive, and forgetting all knowledge, feeling condemned.

I never truly had unbelief nor have been indifferent as a person.
That's why I'm here, a little uncertain about why I'm even crying as I suspect it to be because of the background song and not the actual message but you can't cry to mere sound, you cry to messages you can interpret and resonate with. Sounds mean nothing, words mean something.

But still, my problem is very complicated and at this point I don't know what I need. All I need is someone to take a look at all of my journals, my comments, my bios, my whatevers just to get an idea of what is wrong with me. My cognitive functions, my mental functions. L i t e r a l l y.
I cannot obtain the comfort from the good knowledge of God. I lack clarity and for seemingly no reason, just cannot believe. No matter what I do I just don't have the ability to believe. It's probably that I just do believe and it's just a problem with my heart.

I cried out to God telling him to heal my supposedly stone cold heart because I couldn't feel passion or even familiarity with my loved ones all the while I was feeling sad.
And now I just can't ever truly reminisce because I'm stuck in my habits of introspection and rumination, trying to find reasons as to why I'm not normal or alright.

Idk man.
Psychologist doesn't even know what my problem is nor does my therapist.
Don't know why I had to go through ptsd papers when I literally had nothing of the sort, never. School counselors too. The closest I got to the answers was the internet.
Some of your videos have actually provided me with my ocd reassurance but now since I'm in a new and different season of suffering, I cannot account my memories of my normal being to be aware of. I forgot what it was like being normal, and so now I am not condfident in myself having mental issues.
