Have you tried oral motor exercise for her speech development?
ОтветитьTalking about her like she can’t hear you.
Limited breaks? That’s just wrong.
Making an AUTISTIC person vacuum without noise cancelling earphones?!!! Are you at all educated about what autism is?????
And taking away her iPad… the ONLY way she communicates is just plain WRONG! You should be ashamed.
And the therapist should NOT be touching an AUTISTIC PERSON!
Terrible video.
For my sister, I put Bai g soda on the carpet so she can see where to vacuum
ОтветитьThis is so hard to watch. Everything they are doing is so wrong and truamatizing that girl. The girl is so incrediblely overstimulated. They are not giving her the support that she actually needs. They care more about compliance than supporting her sensory needs. Get the poor girl some noise canceling headphones!
ОтветитьCame here after Paige Layle's video...
Abbie didn't seem happy :'( I'm a PDA autistic, and most of us need a reason do to stuff...
Actually Autistic This is disgusting. It is all about the needs and wants of the parents. Oh yes she get "breaks" fromm them activly hurting her with all the demands. They never give her time to process but have to poinbt and push and physically force her to move the way they want her to. This is truly abuse.
ОтветитьWhy doesn't she have any noise blocking/cancelling help while vacuuming?? Vacuums are really loud and she's obviously distressed by it.
ОтветитьThis is disgusting. Sorry.
ОтветитьI really wish I had someone IRL with me for a few months to help me create and start a schedule that works for me
I have adhd cptsd depression anxiety health issues and many other things
She is amazing
ОтветитьThank you so much for sharing this! I love how invested you are in your daughter’s ABA therapy sessions! 🫶🏾 You are a dream parent.
ОтветитьWhy so many chores for her
ОтветитьImagine being on edge of autism spectrum not sure you have until high school. Not what parts of life is affected by is this why my parents 30 year marriage broke up because dad couldn’t accept might be high end austic guy as teacher said once and my dad just in denial
ОтветитьThis was enough to make me unsub
ОтветитьAba is abuse
Ответитьi feel you guys are not that existed lol you guys need more energy . then you guys do not talk too her . you talk about her, you guys have to watch that.
ОтветитьThis is like forcing a legally blind child to function without glasses.
ОтветитьYou need to learn to do things my way. Then you’ll start to understand.
ОтветитьEveryone’s preferences, except her own! The only way is someone elses way, never your own. Sheesh!
ОтветитьObedience training
ОтветитьIts not helping the girl with autism, its helping THEM manage and manipulate her, its about what THEY think and what THEY feel with no consideration of her needs.. vile.
Ответитьhow is she doing these days?
ОтветитьThat seems really mean to make her vacuum and have to hound her around chores...I would just not want to be doing all that....I feel really bad...
ОтветитьABA is abuse.
ОтветитьThis is so heart warming im looking to become a aba therapist! Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьOur daughter is 2 non verbal level 3 autism ( some folks ask levles dont matter to us) and your family is such an inspiration and blessing for us. I feel like i need to know everything overnight. I find it very helpful to know that even you guys are still learning. Thank you for helping to educate others
ОтветитьAbbie is doing wonderfully! I’ve been encouraged by u to have my daughter work on chores. We have to do a lot of first and then and foreshadowing.
ОтветитьAs a behavior technician it’s so upsetting that everyone saying aba is bad is mostly just “oh well that should be unlimited” or “it’s so bad your just changing people” or “it’s not Individualized” like? Have you ever even looked up the general outline of aba? Every program is specifically made for each child. Aba is so helpful to people and it’s not aba that’s bad. It’s the individuals who break the code of conduct and who don’t honor client’s autonomy that make it bad
ОтветитьThat mask on her therapist is bugging me. Otherwise, this is awesome!
ОтветитьImmense gratitude for sharing such a vulnerable part of your lives. Love watching your storyline, such a supportive family.
ОтветитьThis is by no means an attack or criticism but I need to know: for the people saying No to ABA Therapy, what is your solution then? You guys are so privileged and don’t understand how hard it can be to raise a person who needs this type of help.
ОтветитьAfter watching this weird "session" I get the impression that it's the parents who refuse to communicate with their daughter.
ОтветитьPoor kid, I felt so bad watching this. This is not ”therapy”, it’s abuse.
ОтветитьThis was so painful to watch. I just relived my unresolved trauma that i didn’t really know i have, going nonverbal..
ОтветитьAutistic man here!
The "therapy" that Abby is being given here is obedience training, and it's extremely harmful to her and her future. You are teaching her that her emotions, desires and thoughts about them are not important and what is important is her behavior and following orders.
I have a prediction for you:
Abby will hate you in a few years when she learns to be more independent and identifies that the ABA therapy she was forced to undergo caused her trauma. And you will understand that the love you thought you had for her was not true love, it was selfish and conditional love.
How is that cat not runnimg from the vacuum
ОтветитьConsidering so thank you for this video.
ОтветитьABA need to quit being confused with obedience. She's clearly upset when asked to put pants away.
ОтветитьWhy would she have limited time of breaks. That's not going at her own pace.
ОтветитьAs an autistic adult, this makes me uncomfortable. I'm verbal but PDA. My parents didn't use ABA, I wasn't forced to do anything I didn't like. I now live independently.
Ответитьpoor child. she is not a dog! as a 31 year old with autism, i can tell you that this is not the way to ´´help´´ an autistic person. just let her be. she clearly doesnt enjoy doing the thing you make her do. she is human but not the same as neurotypicals. pls dont try to make her act like one, just work with her. every person needs and wants different things in life, she deserves those things.
ОтветитьYalls golf cart is so cool!
ОтветитьMy son is nonverbal autistic ive considered adding this to his therapies. Its so funny i see my son in many of her behaviors.. sometimes they just need a little break!!!❤
ОтветитьMy son just got approved for ABA therapy and I’m so scared because first I don’t want no one to abuse my baby and I don’t want him to backtrack everything he learned so far.
ОтветитьAba is abuse :)
ОтветитьLate diagnosed autistic (female) here. I know I’m going to get hate for this but before you try to make this child vacuum and whatever else “normal” chores you want her to be able to do, you need to make sure she has the ability to safely walk down stairs. What I saw was an accident waiting to happen and I’m sure it’s already happened. I used to fall down the stairs quite frequently as a child and I also did that unbalanced pattern of stepping down stairs. I hope occupational therapy or physical therapy can help her with balance and this is something you have been working on because her posture and balance are way more important for safety reasons than chores.
Edit: thanks for the likes. I am not nonverbal like this girl but even more of a reason to be cautious with ABA types of therapy because she cannot articulate well her emotions and thoughts. I know she has a device but it’s just not the same. I do hope that someday she will be able to speak even if it takes a very long time. Wishing Abby all the best.🤍💛🧡❤️🩷💜💙🩵💚
That's horrible... Imagine a person always saying you what to do. And never listening when you say you don't want to. Then imagine the situation someone is harassing her. How she was taught to react to things she doesn't like? With silence and ignorance to her own feelings. And that's terrifying. You taught her to always listen to others and never to herself
Ответитьlove this! i’m a bcba and this is a great session. you guys are doing such a great job🎉
ОтветитьYour daughter has high support needs. I think the pushback on ABA is when it's given to more high functioning autistics.
ОтветитьYour doing an awesome job with your kid. As someone studying to be a BCBA this was an awesome video to see some shaping and FCT.
