WOW!! Just found your channel recently, of course your breast was the main attraction. That being said, your innocence, truefullnest and honesty makes you a delightful source of information. I have being a wood worker for over 40 years and made most every you have shown so far. The only other couple of thing I do is turning on a wood lathe and making wooden toys for kids at Xmas, who other wise might not get anything. I watched your video on the Wahuda jointer and decided to purchase one myself. I don't use one that often, reason I don't already have one, but there are times of course. Did not know that brand existed. Anyway can you spell your name because I can't understand it and are you Germany by chance? I rather watch you on my TV, UTupe channel, less commercials and shorter ones. Oh and thanks for your explanation of how UTupe pays, I didn't know that. Am not good with a computer, so please excuse I don't have a pic.
ОтветитьI bought some Black Limba today it is gorgeous. Had not heard of it until this video.
ОтветитьThank you for another interesting video, some lovely pieces of wood there, although difficult to tell, I think the mystery piece maybe piranha pine. Often used in staircases here in the UK.
ОтветитьThe 2 beautiful pieces you can't identify look to be Cocobolo. It has beautiful grain and is very workable. I love it and save it for special projects that I want to show off...
ОтветитьAre they mostly 1/2" stock?
ОтветитьFantastic was thinking about getting that will for sure now
ОтветитьThe piece of wood you can't identify is definitely Canarywood, it happens to be a favorite of mine.
ОтветитьThe million-dollar question is where to sell ones' creations at a fair price. Do you have any suggestions?
Ответить10# box of wood mystery wood looks like ribbon wood
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this....I had no idea there were so many different kinds of hardwoods out there. I'm just starting in different wood working projects so it's nice to get real information from someone who does this a lot. I'm also excited to try out my new Longer 30W Laser Engraver/Cutter that you recommended in one of your other videos...after seeing what you did with it I literally went to their site using the link you had and bought it haha...even purchased a few accessories too. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us all...I know I appreciate it 🥰🥰🥰🥰
ОтветитьSkyler, the purpleheart looks like it is man made! What fantastic wood.
ОтветитьHow I wish we could get sample packs and offcuts packs here in the UK,.
ОтветитьThose labeled samples are if great value in advancing learning and experience. Thanks.
ОтветитьBeautiful off cuts,. Nice presentation. Appreciate that you are independent, neither bought nor sold. Your free voice. God bless.
ОтветитьCool selection! I thought the mystery wood might be a kind of cedar. The grain pattern looks a bit like it.
ОтветитьI love that you do this on your channel. It’s great to learn about new sources for project wood. You always bring great information and techniques to your channel. Thanks for sharing this.
ОтветитьTurns out they are a our 1 1/2 hour drive for me. I’ve never heard of them so I will be taking a drive on Friday (my day off) to check them out. Thanks.
ОтветитьThat's a really nice selection, decent size peices and very reasonable cost too. Wish I could find similar suppliers in the UK. Thank you.
ОтветитьI think the mystery wood is canary wood. I have some with great red streaks but it has quite a yellow tone with little grain in other areas.
ОтветитьI used Purple Heart on our boat, both in and out on the deck.
ОтветитьThe 2nd board looked like hickory or pecan to me…
ОтветитьUsed Purple Heart once - never again. Nasty stuff. Does look cool and Woodworkers Source sells a bunch of it. Don't know anyone that like working with it though.
My wood shop uses a bit larger samples over the matching bin, raw wood and finished - so you may want to finish one half of your samples with your favorite finish.
Wenge, I've used it just wee bit over the years, amazing looking wood. Bocote, very nice looking wood, and oily, so easy to machine. Used it for custom grips many years ago, and stopped buying it (price?). Bloodwood; went through a bloodwood phase. Very hard, splinters easily, looks fantastic and smells great while working it. Sands to a glass smooth finish. I have a fondness for Ash, but have not used it for a spell. Birch is another good one. Back in Minnesota Aspen and Popular were good fireplace woods so I have a bias against them; but folks seem to like them. Canary Wood; never used it (has never fit in with my use case) but maybe I should. I'll be keen to hear what you think of it. Current kick is cherry.
Mahogany; Very open grained wood. I've finished with just lacquer sanding sealer and a brown stained grain filler which can really add some contrast.
Side bar; many years ago I got turned on to Daly's Benite Wood Conditioner. A preconditioner and it also hardens the wood and with mahogany gives it a very deep and rich colour. Expensive unless you can find a local shop that carries it as they are on the coast in Washington state. Highly recommended if you can find it.
I believe your mystry piece is called Myrtle. And you explained why I call Padauk "Cheeto Wood".
ОтветитьMy guess: yellow pine. But, I know absolutely nothing about wood. 😅 That's why I'm here...to learn about wood. Great video! Thank you!
ОтветитьI'm glad you tried the exotics 😊
They often have discount sales for their cutoffs, especially domestics
I never tire of looking at wood. You got a nice selection,
ОтветитьI couldn't find the "cut offs" section on their website
ОтветитьScore! great selection in the 10lb box
ОтветитьI really like the sample pack. I have plenty of books on wood identification but sometimes the photos vary. Good score. Cheers
ОтветитьSmart lady…and beautiful too! 😊❤️😊
ОтветитьI doubt that the dark piece(s) were walnut in an exotic bundle. But your SCORED on that bookmatch set!
ОтветитьHi there,
My educated guess is that your mystery wood is Canary... I enjoy your channel and keep the videos coming
Nice to keep following your journey Skyler...Pete
ОтветитьMy guess of the mystery wood is hickory
ОтветитьThanks for introducing us to this new supplier. I have decent supply of 3/4-inch exotic hardwoods, but now I’m wanting to check out this new source. 👀
ОтветитьFor ten lbs of wood you can do so much with them. I have ordered two boxes of domestic from them, they were out of exotic at the time. Looking forward to seeing what you make with them.
ОтветитьYou got a nice selection of wood in that box! Always nice to have another source for thin wood and they sent you all nice pieces!
ОтветитьThe mystery piece might be goncalo alves. It seems a bit light, but I've seen some lighter examples.
ОтветитьOn second thought....it looks like it's a bit chilly there....
Ответитьit's similar to some pear wood I'm working with but I'm using much smaller pieces so it's hard to tell. .
ОтветитьThe problem with those kind of sample packs is the shipping. Drives the cost up to the point where you might as well just buy what you want locally, at least IMHO.
ОтветитьNice selection and sizes.
ОтветитьJeez....back to those button up shirts....
ОтветитьThanks for sharing! That’s a lot better than the last two boxes. May have cost more, but much more usable. Look forward to seeing the butterfly!
Ответитьmystery wood = canary wood??
ОтветитьI love when I get my veneers in.. every one is different..
ОтветитьYou should make a display panel for your samples to hang on the wall. Looking forward to seeing the monarch butterfly inlay!
ОтветитьPlease ensure you use dust collection and face masks when working with any of the purple, yellow hearts woods and canary wood. The damage they can quickly domtomyou lungs is severe. Also wash your hands after working with them, as some people have allergies to these types of wood.
Thank you for sharing. Great wood haul. Everyone stay safe, happy 😊 and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
That is some beautiful wood. You should drill a hole in each of the samples and mount them on plywood so you can see all of them side by side.
ОтветитьThanks for the video and the information. The link for the wood company doesn't work for me.
