I bought a gravel bike and sold it after a few rides...it's basically an MTB on drops with rigid fork...so I'd rather have an XC 29er bike because it's more capable and more comfy to ride specially if it has a pack load of suspension....I still prefer my good 'ol Cyclocross because it's more nimble to ride - just a personal opinion... GRAVEL BIKES are hybrid bikes advertised in a very "hype" way.

Great video! Thanks as always lex. Any chance of a review of the Triban gravel bike RRP £599 please? And is it as much value as the £450 road bike from Triban? Thanks!

I hope this thing will come to an end soon.

less fast than a MTB less capable than a road bike.

Given that you are not a beginner gravel cyclist anymore, and you now know these things, shouldn't it be "five things I wish I would have* known*"?

gravel is a trend or fad. it will not last. .. you seriously have low self esteem if you are such a slave to trends . I have over 6 bikes of all categories . and gravel is as stupid as the fixie trend. if I want to trail or mountain bike. I will take such a bike out. my road bike is light and built for speed and I keep it on the road. there is zero handling of a road bike ( with off road tires ) it is just a trend to be different . I watch people do this in the hills my friends and I just laugh at them .

Ive always added some glitter to the tubeless milk, helps seal a little bit bigger hole and when it does explode you look spectacular

Although 650b will give you more clearance with a wider tire, it will not be as fast and you will end up working harder to keep pace.

I rode one of the first mountain bikes of the 80's!! I assure you it was swimming in concrete!! Triangle brakes I change with the knob on the steering wheel with the lever without release!! 😂😂😂😂

What's a sensible pressure to run a 44mm tyre at, with tubes vs tubeless, please? Currently running tubes 45/50 psi front/rear and survived a few rides now.

This is reallllly skinny, it’s like a 25mm..Thanks for making me feel like a dinosaur my friend. I just started sizing up to 28’s last year and kept the 25 On the front for better steering… :) I rode my road bike on real actual gravel. Yeah, I mtn bike experience and some skills but…. I bought gravel bike this year and two sets of wheels, road wheels with 30’s and gravel wheels with 38’s. It’s a whole new wonderful world
