NOTE: In this video. I said that it would lower the compression. What I meant to say is that it would lower the overall volume of the song. The dynamics will remain the same, however the overall volume of the song would be lowered, which in result will lower down the LUFS of the song, as well as the True Peak.
ОтветитьThis is why Drake hasn't had any hits.

WHADDUP it's DASH-i mean Justin Omoi
Drake song wasnt compressed, it was just normlized to reach the -14 lufs. Normalization doesnt change the dynamics.
Master your song as loud you want, with as much dynymic range you want. Spotify will normalize it.
The only difference between song will be the dynamixs. You want much dynamics? Set you limiter threshold high, you want the sound to be more glued? Set the threshold lower.
Never master to -14 because the limiter wont even start compressing On such low level. Mastering is about glueing sound.
This is not correct! Spotify simply normalise your LOUD masters by reducing the gain. This is a linear process. If they messed with the dynamics of a song the way you describe, entire genres like Dubstep, EDM etc. (often mastered at -5 LUFS or above) would be totally "broken".
ОтветитьThis is a non issue. They literally do volume normalizing so that we DONT have to worry about this. Master your songs based on the amount of dynamics you want and then upload.
Some genres loudness is important (dnb, dubstep etc) some genres are more dynamic (jazz). Spotify does normalization so that when you listen to a dnb track and then a jazz track and then a dubstep track they all play at the same perceived volume.
The only time this would be a problem is if you are significantly below -14 because they will have to limit the mix to get it to -14 but who makes music that dynamic these days? Nobody, thats who. Most people master their music louder than -14.
Crazy how much confusion there is around such a simple topic like Spotify adjusting the volume of a song....
Thank you, great video explaining the lufs
Ответитьwait wait wait, does Spotify squash (compress/limit) tracks or just turn them down?
ОтветитьAnd why the the big producer doing it? So i think they know that spotify needs -13 LUFS. I want to know why they go then -9 LUFS in the thier mastered song ?
ОтветитьSo I uploaded a song @ -8.5db and it doesn't sound as clean as other ppls music. Should I upload at -14db?
ОтветитьI have a track that is mostly at -16LUFS, but there is one moment where I intentionally go to around -9LUFS. The majority of the song is fine but it's that one sound which I wanted to give an overpowering loudness. Is this okay? I don't know how to go about keeping it all at low levels while also giving it power
Ответитьfun fact, k pops are around -5 LUFS which is REALLY FREAKING LOUD. but yea because theres normalize volume, it sounds fine.
ОтветитьHi, does anyone know how to use the wlm meter "automation warning" in fl studio ?
ОтветитьQual a quantidade de lufs que eu aplique na minha master que minha música fique boa em todas as plataformas digitais
Sem eu ta masterizando minha música para cada plataforma digital
I disagree, LUFS is an integrated value, that's why a denser song (i.e., Drake's in this case) has lower peaks than your song. Drake's song looks "smaller," but you can also see how much denser than yours is. Do this experiment with another song that is just as compressed as Drake's.
ОтветитьIf we go up to -14 LUFS like -11 LUFS shoudl we set the Celing to -2 like Spotify says?
ОтветитьIt’s a trap!
Ответитьbut how do i test this myself ,like my daw cant hear spotify
ОтветитьSomeone Is Fucking Lying....
When i uploaded a song at -14 lufs
It sounded quiet , (even with Normalization on or off)
But when i uploaded at -10lufs they sounded close to The top Charting ones but was Squished in some parts WTF?!???!
The illenium ,odesza, martin garrix etc etc their engineers still Master at -6 -5 lufs,
But THEIR songs don't Sound Squished Even When Normalized ....😭😭 What the hell?
Someone is Fucking Lying and Misguiding ....either these top artist labels pay Spotify for good Audio with quality or the Mastering engineers do Magic
basically the whole loudness war is dead is BS!
ОтветитьYo I'm really glad I caught this video. I went downloaded a free loudness meter instantly bro thanks for the info!
ОтветитьI have around $100 what is the best audio interface i can get?
ОтветитьBut how would lowering track volume by itself squash a mix more than it already is? Wouldn't that require something besides only gain reduction?
ОтветитьCan you please do a tutorial on how to get the same vocal effect as Pyrex on LFDY (Interlude) I've been wanting to do something similar for a while but couldn't recreate the same effect.
Ответитьthat name also changed for mine too haha cause i deleted my facebook account.
ОтветитьHow do you record it from spotify in to edison?
ОтветитьYOUR Boy is in shape! Nice video and content as always!
Ответитьbut if you turn off the normalization in spotify you have a higher output still. which is what some people want. just make sure your compression levels and mixing is right and it’ll be fine if you upload in -9 lufs
ОтветитьLooking good Justin! I remember when you said you were taking care of yourself! I’m glad :)
ОтветитьSubbed. Can you make a video about how you recorded audio internally to fl studio ?
ОтветитьWhen I upload to streaming, for some reason I still find that the commercial songs still sound louder than mine even when it’s all normalized in Spotify, and mine is -14
Ответитьya boy losing weight???? yeeeeet
ОтветитьWill have to find out that formyself. I'm quite confused. xD
Ответитьwhat program did you measure it with?
ОтветитьOMOI‼️🔥🔥🔥
