thou shalt not glue actual rocks onto any part of a miniature. nature is nature but illusion is illusion.
ОтветитьHi Sorastro your work has inspire me to do miniature painting so thank you, I have questions regarding the Lion, did you used the same green stuff in the rocks as you did to fill the gaps or liquid green stuff, and I don't have titanium white I have ceramite white and dead white which of those would you recommend to use for the Lion and the survivors, thank you!
ОтветитьSeconding the "brilliant, more KDM" comments. It's fantastic to see such a talented painter going through the steps of an advanced paintjob.
ОтветитьExceptional, the setting evokes just cold darkness, the model's paint job embodies it and then the chilly music on top....brr!
ОтветитьYour work never ceases to amaze! Spectacular painting and another amazing tutorial.
ОтветитьAmazing work! When you make the gradient of paint on the palette I find it dries too quick even on a wet palette, have you any suggestions to prevent it happening?
ОтветитьReally, really want to see your take on the screaming antelope.
Especially the belly mouth.
Where are you based? UK?
ОтветитьAs much as I love it, I'm never ever one time never going to paint a miniature made out of this stuff in a AAA way. If it was high quality resin, or pewter, sure, as a centerpiece model for a game I love. But this level of painting for this miniature? lel! XD Fun video to watch tho :)
ОтветитьForgive me if this question has already been asked, but what are you using to hold the miniature while you paint?
ОтветитьThis is the best possible configuration for the white lion, I am in awe
ОтветитьShow us more KDM Painintg. Like the Phoenix and the Dragon King please.
ОтветитьMy wife just compared you to Bob Ross. You're amazing.
ОтветитьSo how does Sorastro get the colours as seamlessly blended as he does in the first stage of blocking in the colours? When I try to blend colours to a gradient I can't seem to get it to smoothly transition. A couple common things that seem to happen: One colour seems to dominate or muddy the other, the paint is too thin(?) so it doesn't provide enough coverage and I don't think I'm supposed to blend the same spot 10 times, or the paint is thick enough that it gets ridges.
Any thoughts? Similar experiences?
I've started learning how to paint solely to work towards KDM. This work really is quite fantastic and a great exemplar.
How do you keep your colors fresh in the bottles? Have you build some DIY shaker or something like that? Currently I've mounted a curved wire on my battery screwdriver and mix the vallejo colors in the bottle. But there must be a better way, I think :) thx!
Ответитьmight i ask, if you were already going to wet blend, why would you bother with zenithal highlighting? wouldnt the thick layer of the wetblend be covering it up anyways?
ОтветитьDO MORE KDM STUFF!! YOUR TUTORIALS ARE AWESOME
ОтветитьHey Sorastro, quick question about the base: Can I use Citadel's Stirland Mud instead of the Vallejo basing paste or does the paste entail some sort of glue that helps stick the slate parts together? Thanks for the help!
ОтветитьHow is the paint not dried out by halfway through?
ОтветитьHi Sorastro, sorry quick question: If I don't have access to an airbrush, should I prime in grey and then white like the survivors, or do you recommend to use a black primer, then grey, and then white?
ОтветитьAny plans on taking on the new White Gigalion Vignette of Death?
Ответитьcould u tell me how u set the background of your miniature lighting and posturing. what lens u used, macro? it so dramatic picture, very good job.
ОтветитьI see a lot of people saying how they hate the sculpture of the White Lion and that people replace theirs with other more realistic models, and while at first I thought it looks fairly derpy, I noticed all of the models have sort of a similar style and I began to like it (maybe for the wrong reasons though?). It reminds me of some of those dark children's books that kids would get back in the 80's that I can't remember most of the names of - Where the Wild Things Roam is one of them, but there were others. Books that were potentially haunting in the eyes of a child, where everything has slightly human characteristics, but mostly characteristics of things that would terrify.
Apologies for the ramblings of a crazy person, I just wanted to share my thoughts :)
Would you ever consider selling this miniature? If not would you be interested in being hired to do some commissions? I absolutely love your work. You are a real talent.
ОтветитьHi Sorastro, late to the party but once again inspired by your wonderful tutorial. I have a question: is your Titanium White oil based (like mine is) and if so, how did you mix it with the other water based paints? Doesn't the oil reject and separate from the water?
ОтветитьAwesome work!! Hope to see you do more KDM!
ОтветитьReally admire and appreciate your videos! I am struggling with the white lion right now, as I have been unable to conceal the lines on his back. I’ve stripped the prime twice now; the first to remove green stuff I since it was just too chunky and unsmooth. The second time I tried using Matt varnish to cover them up. I applied 8 layers, yet still when I went to prime - they showed up!! How did you manage to conceal these lines on the lions back???
ОтветитьMaybe a silly question, but I was wondering what airbrush you used to prime you KDM minis? So many different options and I’ve read too many things about needle sizes for priming, etc. your input would help! Thanks
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьPuh. I understand, why you chose to paint the "white lion" this more shadowy way. But I'm not sure, if I could move myself to such an color-mix. (And I'm not talking about my own handywork as a painter. I know I suck a lot.)
(I stumbled over this Videos, because I'm trying to confince myself to not buying the Main-Set of KD... looks like I'm doing it wrong.)
truly amazing
ОтветитьIm sad im late to the party but that model was ugly till you put paint on it now it looks awesome!!
ОтветитьMore please!!
ОтветитьWhat material are the slate in if you can drill through them? I have a hard time seeing a hobby drill getting through actual rock.
ОтветитьDid you use glaze medium to thin your paints or just water? Love these videos
ОтветитьFan-freaking-tastic!
Finally preordered KDM! Version 1.6! I will totally be using your videos for inspiration and guidance 🙌
Hmm... I painted my white lion with blue and gray shadowing. I gave him glowy blue eyes and a golden back. He kinda looked like a ghost lion when I was finished. LOL!
ОтветитьLove youre white lion .. got more of kdm show more kdm !!!!!
ОтветитьWhat type of drill and drill bit are you using? I had trouble drilling into my slate.
ОтветитьCan you recommend me where could I get some slate for my miniature bases? So far I havent found any place to get those.
ОтветитьMan this one of the best painting tutorial I’ve seen. You have smooth way of explaining what you are doing. I liked how you mixed your paint on the wet pallet. The end result was awesome. Thanks for sharing. I will be watching more.
ОтветитьThis series is amazing! I am waiting for my copy of 1.6 to arrive and these videos hype me so much and give lots of inspiration! Do you always apply a varnish over all the miniatures after the painting is done? Doesn't that mess with the colours, metal effects, etc? I have applied varnish over some of my minis but I am not a professional painter haha and I can tell that it changed the final result slightly, specially over metals. Screaming Antelope next!
ОтветитьDear Sorastro, one reason why today i've KDM in my house are you.
But please, release a track with the intro song used for your painting video!
Hi Sorastro!
Are these boulders that you use for the bases you can buy somewhere?
Wow. Perfection! I'm presently starting to paint Proudmane and the cleric rider for a graveyard diorama so this is perfect as a reference. I hope that's ok obviously. :D
ОтветитьThat fur is my undoing, managed the underpainting just fine (just sketching out the colors in 30min was not quite on the menu for me) tiny strokes were too hard to maintain, need to try more of those deliberate strokes molding the shape instead of shaping the mold
ОтветитьI am loving this series so far. Motivates me to try wet blending finally and getting over my fear of it. Really hoping Aeon Trespass is on your radar because I would love to watch a series for that.
Ответитьdo you plan to make these videos fro gamblers chest minis?
ОтветитьThis is the best toturial I've seen so far for KDM!
ОтветитьAs ever a fantastic tutorial thank you! How do you approach building new survivors when/why/which sets?
Ответить
