I installed LED stop and tail lights on my 2018 Sonata and the work fine. Far better than the incandescent stock bulbs.

Can you get these with a more yellow light instead of blinding white? I don't want to change the amber color.

Not true.. LED lighting will outlast your vehicle. Compare that to halogen. I've gone through 2 sets of halogen headlights on my 2000, F350. Done with those I switched to LED. I did have issues with alignment though because the housing for those lights were non-reflective. however I always make certain I'm on low beams well before I get anywhere near oncoming vehicles because these guys light up EVERYTHING rather than keeping the light down below oncoming drivers. I still get drivers flicking lights at me even though I'm on low beam so I give them a quick flip back indicating I'm on LOW. I haven't had any road rage incidents yet!

Problem with those thick-wedged retrofits is that they may not work in the housing. I bought a couple of them and I tried them in my Toyota which uses T10/W5W bulbs almost everywhere and none of them worked. I got the thin wedged ones afterwards and they worked like a charm.

Reasons to not install LED's. Why would you want people to be able to more clearly see into your car at night, at the same time, make it harder for you to see out your window. Especially for those with astigmatism, if a passenger needed light to temporarily see while you're driving, you've just lowered your ability to see. No one needs that brightness in your car. You're not living in the vehicle.

I was told my scooter headlight bulb runs on AC current & it would burn up LED bulbs quickly. So it's still a dim 35 watt halogen bulb.

Something to be aware of with those "festoon" LED lights is the physical size of the LED array and it's heat-sink.

Even though the overall length of the bulb is correct, and the contacts are the correct size, some LED arrays just won't fit in the space intended for a regular bulb.
Also, more importantly, the heat-sink sits very close to the electrical contacts and if it touches them it'll short out and blow a fuse.

They come in various sizes (array of 20 LEDs, 15 LEDs, 8 LEDs etc) so it's probably best to buy one and see if it fits before buying more.
If you have problems, look for a bulb with fewer LEDs that'll probably fit more easily.

Be carful when replacing instrument bulbs as the will not dim like incandescent lights . Also you can get several types that fit but will have various amount of lumens. found this out on my 1972 F 100. had trouble seeing the speedo during day time with sunglass on. first set was just a little brighter. next ordered the most lumens with the same base. too bright at night. that's when I found out you can't dim a led. 3rd time was the charm. 7 bulbs in that inst. cluster, and the spedo cable you have to reconnect blind wile just enough room for your hand.

I have LED headlights in my car, but I feel the electric system suffers with them since it sometimes takes the ignition a couple of turnovers to start (and I have the load resistor built in with those LEDs). I never had that problem with halogens. A friend of mine is an engineer and he told me that changing out bulbs like that can interfere with electrical system, especially if the stock form of the car is halogen.

Heat isn't the biggest issue for everyone else that has to look at them. LED bulbs in housings not made for them blind everyone, and they often find it amusing that it does. Great until someone gets moth to a flame deer in the headlights syndrome and drives head first into you because all they see is a glow, especially if they have minor vision issues like astigmatism. I feel bad for them.

I got pulled over for a headlight out. Gave me a 5 day. Of course I was literally on the way to the store for a bulb when I got pulled over. I went down to the police station. Cop came out to verify. I asked if they had an officer sitting in the field doing paperwork I could drive past quick to make sure I had aimed it correctly after I replaced the bulb. He looked at me like I had a third eye growing out of my forehead and told me flat out that they don't care, because the law only says it has to be operable.

Yeah, they literally do not care at all about safety as they claim when they pull you over for basically anything, which is why you see so many idiots blinding you with that one headlight cocked up directly into oncoming traffic. It doesn't matter where it's pointing. It only has to work. Outstanding.

Most people just change the bulb and have no idea about aiming it. That's why "Joe's Garage" type places have a horizontal line or two painted on one of their walls somewhere in or on the building, about knee to waist high. It's a reference point for aiming headlights.

They are apparently too stupid to figure out that they can't see the actual road because the light is going into your lane, or just off into space, which must be really fun in heavy rain, or especially snow or fog. Stupid. You're stupid. You shouldn't even have a license. You can't even tell that you can't see. It's like people that forget to turn on their headlights because the interior dash lights are on. How can you not tell that you can't see the road when there isn't street lights?

LED bulbs are not meant for old housings for MULTIPLE reasons. You're a jerk, and blinding everyone, so I while I don't wish ill on any person, I hope you melt your housings, dummy. Such simple things that can make such a big difference, and people can't even do those. We're doomed. It's just a matter of time. Good luck everyone.

light emitting diodes have been around for decades even before halogens ..if you want to know how long they last read the info on the packaging ! LED's run cooler and last light years longer than any incandescent , simply because they are not incandescent....you said it yourself LED's pull less power per lumen ..halogens are the hottest per lumen of all incandescent a 1500w halogen work light puts out 32000 lumen and turn the flat side of the glass housing of the work light up and fry your breakfast on it ..an LED that puts out 32000 lumen consumes 400w ..thats almost 4 times less wattage = 4 times less heat for the same amount of light, but its not enough heat to warm up your milk ! spent 5 minutes on google search like i just did before you make any bold statements

Do you or anyone have any tips to get at these bulbs? Not sure if you ever respond to subscriber comments but thought I'd give it a shot.

They say "resistors" on electric circuits dissipate heat, and if those resistors can light up via led..even slightly...on thick cables...inside modified solar panel box....ev cars can probably do well with magnetized iron transformers.

Although it is not the topic of this video, i want to warn people about a serious issue. If you are replacing the lighting of your car: You can do whatever you want except for the lights "Outside" of your vehicle. Your vehicle's headlights, tail-lights, fog lights, signal lights, and "factory installed accessory lights" have certain angles to illuminate around your car. The manufacturer designs the reflective surface in your lights to illuminate the road in a certain way, and it is very dependent on "where the bulb emits the light from". If you have factory halogen lights for example, you should not use xenon, or led lights, or even a different bulb style. Because the point of light emmission differs from bulb to bulb and it messes with the reflection angles.

The one area that I found an LED to be preferable was in the trunk area of my SUV. The halogen bulb light switch was not door activated. On more than one occasion I left it on and came back to find the battery dead. I've made the same mistake with the LED bulb in place, but I still had battery to start the car the next day. The amount of light in the trunk area is increased also.

TLDW: man buys cheap LED bulbs, is disappointed, tells other people not to buy LEDs because he doesn't understand how to find quality bulbs. 🤦

Like with all things guys, if you buy quality you get quality. If you're not sure what's quality check the reviews! Check the reviews on multiple sites! We've had the internet for 30 plus years now, Google is a thing, and it's not hard to tell the bots from the real reviews. I have put LEDs in many cars and there's only one rule that you should follow. Stay away from blue tinted LEDs, try to lean more towards a pure white or slightly yellow. That's because you have backscatter in the atmosphere and blue light backscatters more than the other wavelengths (hint: that's why the sky is blue!) So if you use a blue tinted light at night you get a lot more backscatter ie: more light thrown back at you making it hard to see what's ahead of you. So as long as you buy a good quality LED bulb that is around the 4000 to 5000 k color temperature rating You're going to get the same light quality as an incandescent bulb with much better brightness and a lot longer life.

168 bulbs get extremely hot, I always preferred red lights as interior lights on a car. Otherwise you are illuminating yourself while blinding yourself. Especially map lights, red doesn’t produce glare you can see what’s going on, but also see outside the vehicle as opposed to white light that produces glare not only can you not see outside the vehicle. It takes time for your eyes to adjust, and other folks can see in even with dark window tint.

I just think the CFL thing was ridiculous. It retarded, LED progress, the power companies that burned Cole said that it reduced mercury in the environment by reducing power consumption, but the bulbs contains mercury!

If the bulbs contain mercury, scavenged from lakes or coal power sources, that otherwise would have been in the environment that would have been something, but instead, they say they’re reducing a chemical by producing something made with that chemical, and putting it into the hands of consumers, making it more likely that it will end up in the environment…

For that, I believe LEDs have helped a lot, incandescent lightbulbs are more efficient at producing heat than they are producing light. If you replace every bulb in your home with LED all your lights, running at the same time, consume the same power that one bulb would use that is significant.

I’m really surprised we don’t have access to better quality polymer lenses and different types of gas filled bulbs other than halogen… LED are great, but limited, there has to be a better way to eliminate the roadway and identify obstacles without blinding everybody else…

I think the technology is there we should be able to buy kits that project a heads up display overlay with night vision, at least at night… If you have ever lived in an area with deer or ever hit a deer elk moose caribou… This is the biggest concern they can kill people quickly even small animals. Nobody wants to hit them, but many folks do you even being cautious
