i come back to this video often. i first watched it a couple years ago when the world was in lockdown and i felt a sense of hopelessness. fast forward to now, i've recently spent two months solo travelling australia and i created a montage video similar to this just for me to keep for myself. this video was such a huge motivation for me on this trip, especially because i've always wanted to travel since as long as i can remember, and whenever i doubted my capabilities (especially doing it solo) i came back to this video and i can't tell you how much it inspired and helped me. thank you marla, truly.

There’s a common misconception that traveling is something restricted to the rich, or people who have money, and it’s the complete opposite.

I grew up in Florida in a poor household, never had family vacations, parents never took me anywhere, and I’d always hear of my friends going to all these cool places that I wanted to visit. So I set a goal for myself, that when I turn 18 I’m going to travel the world. And when I turned 16 I got my first job, bought my uncles old van, fixed it up and had a good amount of money saved up when I turned 18. I left and never looked back. It’s only been 6 months since I turned 18 but I’ve done more things in this 6 months than I have my entire life. I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been this 6 months than my entire life. I live in my van, cook my own meals, when I get low on money I find a job in town like a supermarket and save up money for a couple weeks and continue on my journey. This life is very attainable if you let it be. And I’m not just talking about dropping your previous life to live in a van like myself, I’m talking about traveling and having the best time of your life. Campsites are anywhere from free to $10 a night. Cook your own meals, gas depends on how far you travel, but you can go on a couple week road trip for under $350. If you really want it just go out and do it. The only thing stopping you is yourself.

Transscript: Let me tell you something about life. about the curiosity desire and drive to want more. to see the Northern lights in Iceland or to walk on the scorching sands of Egypt. there's an entire planet that is undiscovered and that planet is the one that you walk on with your own two feet. People say you have your entire life to discover new things. in the big picture one day you will look back and all the places you could have gone and all the things you could have done differently. life, it's a scary thing. not necesarily the death part of life but rather if you have never truly lived in. there is going to be pain but the beautiful thing about life is, it allows you to make choices. so, choose your pain. the pain not only existing but living. And the pain of beeing haunted of what you never did. So go out, take chances, laugh, laugh a lot, love a lot too. stay confident and stand up for what you believe in. and stand up for those who can't for themselves. Go with the person to see yourself with. have amazing friendships and dance like nobody is watching and sing like nobody is listening. be adventurous but be yourself. Try new things. Watch the sunrise. Be grateful for the little things. Stay up late, take amazing pictures. don't care what other people think of you. remember, those who judge you aren't worth it. make great memories which last a lifetime. every second you spend angry, worried, upset is a second in life you'll never get back. So be fearless on the pursuit on that sets your soul on fire. because one day your life will flash before your eyes so make sure It's worth watching
