It Struggled! I Push The New Hyundai Santa Cruz To The Max Off-Road, The Results Were Surprising!

I just brought home my 2024 model today I went pretty much based model on everything I live in the adirondack mountains of New York . I think with my motor and transmission it will be a little bit better for trail use which I don't plan on doing much of I've got a 4 Wheeler for that. However I think this will be a very good commuter once I slap some good tires on it . I only have 90 miles on the vehicle in total however I've been pleased with it so far

Who in the world would be off roading with them bald tires. If your doing a off road test, why not get an actual off road tires?

I am sure your old 500.00 dollar straight 6 Cherokee that bested the Subaru in climbing video would also have no issues beating the Santa Cruz

I think with an SEL AWD for 33 grand worth it but for that much i would consider a Tacoma and i have a 2023 Tuscon SEL AWD, traction is fine in snow as i have a hideaway in WV and i didnt buy it for off road or expect to 'try it' off road but no its not an off roader

Tires make all the difference in videos like this. I feel like some solid alterrain tires on 18" vs 20" would make the vehicle more off road capable.

Put in the 1.6 turbo hybrid + AWD + tyres + various accessories

This video is so flawed put some aggressive tire on the damn thing and then talk shit.

I really think that having a set of off road tyres would make a big difference. My opinion.

Would be nice if the non turbo model was tested. Every reviewer always does top model. Dual clutch is horrendous for anything off-road at all.

Dual clutch is a down grade for this type of driving. Save your money and get lower spec buy some good tires and gear.

All they did was steal the idea from Subaru from the Baja a car like a hen do you will never meet the quality of the Subaru flat out

The best part of this vehicle is the breaking away from gas guzzling trucks. If you need a truck. Get one. If you need fuel efficiency and a good ride. Well. you decide.

The downhill assist is for cruise control only not off Roading. Maybe you should know what the buttons do before you go pushing them. I hate when people make these videos and don’t know what the vehicle does. If you see a button facing downhill oh, that must be downhill brake assist. You should stop doing this before you get hurt or to get someone else hurt

Get some proper tires and it would do better on some of those sections.

I'd like to see the roller test done with the canadian model and did you try that in snow mode

Spend $10,000 on an awesome 4x4 4Runner or an F-150 4x4 then spend the other $30k on gas, this truck-let doesn't even get good MPG?!

But in its defense its not for off road..ai have a 2018 chevy 4x4 for work and drive muddy(at times)dirt and road lease roads all the time and very hilly and it will do the same thing IF NOT in 4 wheel drive..I would imagine the Santa Cruz would do better if had all terrain tires..but that would make the highway drive not so enjoyable (due to road noise)..Now granted I would love to know that a 4x4’was coming out in 24’ (now spending that much on it in wouldn’t take it off-road until it had a few years and dings and rattles on it from having 60k+ miles on it….

Does it have a manual mode since it has padel shifters....

Why do people continuously test these vehicle on these roads, not what this vehicle was designed for.

I understand its only a car “ute” but if you’re going to do tests going up a trail hill or your roller test give it some gas like your stuck! If your afraid of damaging vehicles don’t test them. 🙄

I hate when a manufacturer uses the brake system instead of locking differentials. Such a cheap and crap way to go about it.

That limited is a city driver you want the sport version. But even with that sad they didn't actually make a off road version I love how the look and real want one. But what it is I wouldn't trust it in snow let alone dirt roads. It needs a full time 4 wd drive mode. And a nice lift mode as well.

Thank you for the content. Been looking for some type of off road test drive on these. Saw one of the blue stones and fell in love, but need to see how it does. I live on a muddy farm road, snow piles up fast in the winter and I own a house on the beach as well.

Turn traction control off front right will pull fine, differential had no traction on the other 3 so it just doesnt pull hard enough to break the front right lose and doesnt let you apply enough torque to ramp it off before disengaging

The Ridgelines cousin. Have a 06 RTS with lift and a 2019 RTL E stock. Wish they would have the kept the looks of the 06 and made updates on it, this looks close to it. Whens a llft going to come out.
