That is not a 2-band EQ. Those to two knobs cut the effect on low and high notes. They make the pedal very interesting, I think.

what does the "thru" option do on this pedal?

Tbh I've never found the mxr to be usable , I really like what George Tripps did with way huge and the blue hippo , now that's a chorus pedal

Rather than "here's another setting," this demonstration would have been much better if the parameter changes necessary to move from one sound to the next had been discussed.
