The ritual did work, though. That whole section of the movie was the mind battle. Pennywise saying it didn't work was lying.

I never understood why the Grownups who lives or lived in Derry except The Losers Club 'minus Stanly' are too cowardly to face the fears that haunted them throughout history or never stopped to really understand that ignoring their fears never solved anything either and why can't they see that their attempt in ignoring their fears is also neglecting what true love they ever had for their children? What I mean by [Neglecting what true love they ever had with their children is...] Eddie's "Overprotective" Smother Mother Mother or the abusive father of Beverly Marsh and the abusive racist father of Henry Bauer or Ben Hanscom's oblivious Mother and his morally "blind" Aunt, or Mike Hanlon's unreasonable Uncle, because they are actually the worst out of the family members of the Loser's Club and Henry Bauer.

You actually missed one in chapter 1 when they are looking at the missing post or the bus in the back has a red balloon in it and a white face

Did the adults not grow up scared of Pennywise? I know the ones who moved away forget but what about the ones who spent their whole life there? The adults are so different the instant he becomes involved. Why is Mike the only one who grew up there and remembers Pennywise from his youth?

The in-universe logic doesn't make sense for plot contrivance reasons.

So little Geo is killed immediately because it's time for the monster to scare us.
Then the whole rest of the time, the story is the monster likes to "make them scared first so they taste better", because now we can't lose any of our main characters.

Geo actually seemed to be in a good mood that day, even laughing and joking with the clown.

Then it also seems rather forced how the clown tries to scare the kids one at a time, so the scenes can be rotated for the plot.

If you were going to expose yourself, as a stealth killer, would you really pick a group of kids that all know each other and reveal yourself to all of them, one a a time slowly?
Like, if you for some reason need to work on a bunch of targets simultaneously, you'd pick kids that have no friends at all, yes?

Similarly, it's contrived how Pennywise uses horror movie icons to build up fear and manipulation. If you could put hallucinations into people's heads, you would manipulate them using people around them so they don't trust anyone, lose their base and become paranoid, while having no one to turn to.

It's more a horror story for little kids, hence the main characters being infantile like the story is.

Just came from your recent "welcome to Derry" teaser breakdown!

I've noticed the kid's show part of it so many times watching the films, but I can't believe I never saw that all the kids in the backgrounds are Pennywise's prior victims.

If you notice in first film there are great references to horror. Nightmare on elm Street 5 half hidden on cinema bill. It's a nod to that period when new line would use same set for nightmare 5 and The Blob and it's possibly the same set here where Derry has its main street and the kids hang out.

The guy that gave Richie the funeral pamphlet was the guy the kids beat up and pennywise killed at the beginning of chapter 2

Did you know that penny wise is an actually an human? His backstory was that he was a clown and loved a girl but because he’s a clown she rejects him, and kills himself. And is now the thing that he now does to the kids
