This video is a bit missed leading in my opinion, yes Jordan was a big part of making it being green lighting. I would say he would be better than Zac Efron, but Jackman was the only reason why it got green light at the end of the day. It was in his interest for many moons. Make no mistake.

This actually quite sad, especially when he has to sing both parts. Knowing he was sick and still persevered thru the rehearsal/audition. Very disappointing.

very bitter, he doesn't have the voice of the real greatest showman. The guy in the purple top in the live recording changes the mood of the room instantly. That guy is great!

BROOOOOOO, Jeremy Jordon is my favorite Broadway actor and he got ROBBED! 😭 I never did watch 'The Greatest Showman', but I have way more respect for Jeremy than i already had before for the role he played in all the behind the scenes stuff. He put everything into it, even if he never got the recognition he deserved. Especially for singing all that while SICK! I used to sing, and one of the biggest rules of singing is that you NEVER sing while sick. Ever. Because then you're putting even more stress on your vocal cords and could permanently damage them. So Jeremy risked a lot by doing that, and I respect him for putting his voice on the line to make sure someone was there to sing when nobody else could. And for being a good sport about everything. Considering he's now told the story of what he did for the movie, it's clear he's still a bit salty (as he should be), but he also knows this is just show business. There are probably a lot of other similar stories he hasn't talked about, but I'm glad he told this one.

Just want to remind him that had he not been the part and person he played and is this world would be joyous be pleased that your singing inspires other people to want to sing, yes Hugh continued singing, but it is you that inspired him to such a feeling that he couldn't help himself. Remember when you inspire a feeling inside some one it makes a difference, and although you may feel like it was taken away from you you are part of something truly amazing. Love your voice and don't forget you are a in a million😘😘

I was so blown away by this young man. I wondered where this amazing talent came from and why didn’t we see more of him. Watching this back story where Hugh was the hero. Thank you for showcasing his talent once again. Hollywood is a fickle place. Regardless it will never diminish your talent. Hoping you embrace who you are. Brilliance 🎉
Off on another gripe. The movie Australia where the young Brandon Walter’s played Nullah. This charismatic young 12 year old was the movie. A natural. They paid him a lousy $100K.

Fun fact about the credits for the Greatest Showman. Towards the end, on the “the producers would also like to thank” bit where they name people and organizations that helped them… Jeremy Jordan’s name is not listed. The NYPD and their filming department is, but not Jeremy Jordan. Some friends Pasek and Paul must be.

Well, "La La Land" is coming to Broadway and is going to need a lead, so maybe Pasek and Paul will make it up to him. Plus, I just saw him in "The Great Gatsby" and he's phenomenal. It's a guaranteed Tony nomination when it finally transfers to Broadway. IDK about the big screen, but Jeremy is going to OWN Broadway for the next few years. Whatever he does is going to become the hottest ticket in town.

Oh, please. Jeremy Jordan burned his own bridges. No one did anything TO him. He says himself that he overheard Hugh Jackman talking to an exec about the possibility of having Zac Efron come in to read for the role, and gave up on it right then. The greenlighting session was Jordan's audition, and he blew it. He wasn't feeling well, but didn't tell anyone. He was drinking tea, hoping it would help his throat. He screwed the pooch on "Rewrite the Stars," and hoped that he'd be able to do better on the finale song - but that was always Hugh Jackman's role, and Jackman had been working for literally 10 years to get the film made at that point. The only reason that Jordan was ever going to sing the finale was that Jackman had had a skin cancer removed from his nose the morning before and wasn't supposed to sing because he had stitches. But Jackman decided to sing the finale, so Jordan didn't get his "second chance." But he wouldn't have needed a "second chance" if he'd actually TOLD anyone that he was sick. Efron wasn't a certainty at that point, but Jordan just GAVE UP ON THE ROLE, and flew back to California without making his interest known. And then he wrote his little one-man show about how great he was, and tearing down the rest of the people involved in the greenlighting session, and after that... no one wanted to work with him. But HE DID THAT TO HIMSELF. So I have no sympathy for Jordan. None. He needs to grow up.

It was always unlikely that they were going to hire him for the role. It needed the star power of Zac Efron, it's as simple as that.

He was hired to provide the demos, nothing more.

Still feel bad for the guy though.

It was so annoying to see the video from the presentation where Hugh Jackman and the director of the movie talk OVER Jeremy's singing about how great of a moment it was when Hugh decided to rip his stitches for the song. Like they talk about how sad it was that Hugh couldn't sing and yada yada but literally don't even say that another person had to sing all his songs. I also saw an interview where Hugh talked about his kids who had apperently heard the demos and asked Hugh why he had to record any songs when the guy singing was already really good. Again, he doesn't say it was Jeremy, giving him no credit. I'm not saying Hugh or anyone did it on purpose, but I just thought it was curtousey to credit where credit's due when someone was literally told last minute that they had to sing the main lead, and especially Hugh who's branded as this every-man good guy

@MKPiatkowski

Congrats on making a video that accomplished, based on the comments, turning people against Hugh Jackman for the crime of singing a song that was written for him at a backers audition where the potential backers wanted to see him. How was he to know that Jeremy Jordan was seeing that song as a redemption song? He had nothing to redeem. Everyone in the room knew he was singing two parts, one at short notice so of course his voice would be tired.

Being promised the role by the composers isn't Jackman's fault either, as he wasn't one of the producers but that seems not to matter. The reality is that musicals are expensive and studios want as many names as possible to bring their fanbases. There was already one "unknown" in a major role, two would have been a very tough sell. It sucks for Jeremy but in the end he was promised things by people who didn't have the clout to keep them. That's on the composers, not Hugh.
