This is exactly how I got my spot at my buddies shop. Well respected shop with 3 artists and after their 2 piercers left I was offered a spot a few days ago! I’ve been hanging out for 2-3 years got all my tats 32 out of 36 were there and all my old piercings at 21 but It’s a true statement this man is saying! Godless!

So long story short. I've been offered 2 separate piercing apprenticeships (which I sadly couldn't take at the time), and I currently have a shop personally asking me to become a piercer because they need one at their shop. Youre the 2nd person to mention Fakir and im really thinking that's my best bet. Kinda sucks being from Alabama and needing to go to Cali for it but hey, gotta bite the bullet right? Luckily I have 2 shops that already do piercings that I'm really good friends with that cab help through this adventure. Maybe I'll be back here eventually to give you an update. Thanks for your advice!!

53 yr old personal and private piercer . i started doing my own at 15 and progressed to getting piercings at gauntlet in late 80s . i read a ton of medical books and back then all we had was barbell and captive bead. started doing friends and family along with learning tattooing. all this was just starting to explode and thankfully i witnessed the whole scene blow up. what a time to be alive. also the first ink slinger ball i. Hollywood did a lot for the exposure of the trend.

I recently lost my retail job of about 8 years im 31 and i have always been a huge fan of anything body mod related im thinking of starting a piercing career. Would you say age matters in this line of work? Its high time i start doing something i enjoy and are passionate about a job but im worried shops would rather take on a younger apprentice than someone just starting out in there 30s.. Also would you recomend going out and getting these classes knocked out before seeking out shops?

It’s illegal to not pay an apprentice if they do anything active for the business, ie set up or take down, take out trash, answer a single phone call.

Thank you for the video!! I have 13 piercings and 1 tattoo (I plan on getting more in the future), and I’ve wanted to get into the industry but I’m not sure how to go on about it.. I’ve gotten all my piercings done in Juarez (Mexico, since I live in a border city in Texas). I’ve been thinking about getting an apprentice with my piercer there but it’s really hard for me to be crossing every day. I’ve been looking for shops in El Paso, but they’re really expensive. So I’m thinking about just starting on myself, friends, and anyone that’s willing for me to practice. But I’m scared of doing it wrong even though I have a pretty good idea on the procedure, pain, and care for piercings. Anybody have any recommendations or tips on what I should do?
