The problem with most of these reviews your speed talking. It’s so distracting I have no idea what you were saying. I felt I just finished marathon. Slow down or I have to cancel. Have to sign off early.

Comme chaque être humain le dit on ne plait pas a tout le monde, la tu es entrain de chercher les petites détails que les gens ne font pas attention forcement , ce qui compte ce que tu vas faire avec c'est ca le plus important , après ce sont des petits détails et ca va pas empêcher les gens de l'acheter après vu ta vidéo et heureusement d'ailleurs c'est pas parce que l'écran ne s'incline pas parce que y a la prise jack qui l'empêche ou je sais pas quoi , que moi je vais m'arrêter la dessus , cet appareil est un petit génie de la photographie mec très peu arrive a sa cheville.

Very counter intuitive for me to go with the S5 over the s1 regarding the specs, but having chose the s5 I would say the size, weight and ergonomics are perfect for a mirrorless camera for me, using FF no longer involves compromising on these details and while phase detect provides a superior AF in the S5ii I do feel for a mid range camera it still meets and goes way beyond what I ask of it.

My s5 raw images when I bring them into lightroom / photpshop or capture one they are super dark?? 🤦‍♂🤷‍♂🤷‍♂ even though I made sure to check the exposure meter and over expose a little! Have you had this issue??

Auto focus capability still a big problem?

Have been a G85 user for 5 years seriously considering the S5 as an upgrade for it's video features and most importantly it's probably the best bargain for a full frame camera! The auto focus for me is not a big deal as I mostly use manual focus and what I love about Panasonic is the consistent firmware updates and how they continually support their older cameras even the G85 which is probably 6 or 7 years old now since it's first release! My G85 just keeps getting better even the auto focus with every new firmware update and I know the S5 will have that same support.

I just shot a feature film with an open box deal, 1,200 bucks, S5. The only strange thing about this camera is what you get for the price. I shot into the Ninja V, so I was getting 422, 12 bit, 5.9k RAW...at FULL frame. I was a big fan of GH4 and 5's, loved them, but it has to be said, comparing M4/3rds to Full frame is like comparing poetry to the phone book. Put good glass on this little baby and you will have to spend 70k on an Alexa to see any difference, ...(oh, the color science on this and the S1H comes from the Alexa, my bad.) For a filmmaker, unless you need a global shutter for action sequences, I can't see why you would need any other camera. I am now editing the film. It is a piece of crap, but...it looks fecking wonderful!

Gerald please help. I have the S5 and LOVE it. I shoot nearly always in 4K60. The autofocus is good enough for me. The ONLY thing I’m not too impressed with is the low light performance. Is the A7siii MUCH better in low light? Or are they comparable? Would it be worth spending 2000$ more?

I have an S1 and love the weight as a quality feel, as 63 I love it and want a S1R x.

I tried to scroll through some videos to find information on overheating of this camera. With you it's just there, all explained in not even 2 minutes. And so this video especially is packed with important info about the camera.

When filming in 1080p it's a great video camera with good colors and dynamic range and high framerate modes 👍

I recently bought this camera, but with a 24-70 2.8 Sigma Art as the main allround lens and a Sigma 50mm 1.4 for other stuff. So far I'm quite happy with it, still in the process of getting to know the camera. When I got it, it felt very small in my rather large hands, so I added the battery grip, which makes the handling a lot easier.

that auto focus is so unattemptable. like what ! ! ? ?

Silly I should ask this... When my gear consists of nothing but old manual lenses and separate voice recording and not recording anything important more than 30min at the time, any reason to go with something else but this? Rolling-shutter effect?

Funny how 10-15 years ago, AF were so bad for video that they werent even considered much for professional usage, like if you are a pro, you know how to use the MF ring. Then came Sony and their mirrorless, perfected AF and made it a benchmark by making it so convenient for all that if a Cam doesnt have good AF, even pros now shy away from them!!

I hope Panasonic doesnt go the Nokia way and adopt better system than sticking to their AF system which in their latest GH6 is still behind the competition.

Hi! I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to. Partly because my lack of experience in the professional camera realm and partly because of the lack of information out there. I want to buy a Lumix S5 and I also need a lens for it. I want to film super wide angle at 4k60 ( so the image will be cropped ) and I am looking for a lens that will give me roughly the same image as an iPhone 11/12/13 on the ultra wide camera in video mode ( iPhone crops in ultra wide video mode ) and from what I understand the focal length of the ultra wide on the iPhone is 13mm ( in photo mode ). What lens should I buy for the S5 ( preferably prime ) for this effect aka iPhone ultra wide video mode ( 13mm cropped ). Thanks 😐

Why do none of these Panasonic S[x] reviewers ever mention the 'HLG Photo' mode? At last somebody (Panasonic) are addressing the archaic 8bit RGB jpeg format which IMO is way out of date. Huge improvements have been made to the video format over the years yet for photos we are still stuck with the same old ancient jpeg format!! WHY?
Yes, i know the web can only output 8bit formats but surely there are other outputs (other than print) where a photo with a wider color gamut, HDR etc is more desirable.
Yet we've had all this 'extra' data in our raw, Tiff photos etc for years and we always have to 'downgrade' them to jpegs for the masses.
We now have the TVs/monitors capable of showing HDR video (8 and 10 bit) with WCG so why not utilize this tech for photos? The 'HLG photo' on the Panasonic S range was one of the main attractions for me.

This is the best review I've seen so far . As a full manual focus videographer this is the best camera for me. I am buying one the decision is made. I don't even know the auto focus settings on any camera I've ever owned lol

Great content.

For stills, without tracking, this camera is one of the best around. The lack of AA filter and the thin filter glass, sensor quality and colour science is one of the best on the market. Video is awesome. Tracking AF for video has been much improved but as most professional videographers shoot manual its a mute point. Video functionality, including unlimited records and no overheat makes this so amazing. At its current discount levels for one of the sharpest FF cameras about, its a bargain. The cherry on the top are the lenses. The extent of Sigma, Panasonic and Leica lenses available for the L-mount make is the second best lens selection IMHO after Sony E-mount.
