ОтветитьExcellent miniseries! Also thanks for letting me know about the new total war game! I'm totally going to get it!!
ОтветитьWhy aren't these episodes on Nebula? I almost missed them
ОтветитьSuffering from success
ОтветитьGlory to Usaarmatre
ОтветитьRamesses the Great seems like the kind of person who would NOT be surprised to find out that people still talk about him several thousand years after he died!
ОтветитьIt’s kinda funny that extra history started with a total war sponsorship and now this is the most recent series
ОтветитьThere is so much gray aera.
ОтветитьCan you please share the history of Palestine ❤🇵🇸
ОтветитьEgypt is so ancient, Ramses the Great's son was an egyptologist. Jesus.
ОтветитьCommon Sense : history is written by the winners
Ramses: I didn't agree to that hold my beer
I think my favorites are actually his characters from Babylon 5 and Stra Trek Voyager. Tragic yet satysfying.
ОтветитьThe man in gauze
ОтветитьHaving too many sons was a common thing for monarchies outside of post Roman Europe. European strict succession law and monogamy culture prevented this, though still risky because succession crisis became much more often.
ОтветитьHis great accomplishments were war (which he apparently lost), building huge monuments to himself, and living so long?
ОтветитьThe fact that this man lived into his early 90s without modern medicine is just astonishing
ОтветитьAnd this is why you appoint a son under 30 to be your new heir. It prevents a lot of issues.
ОтветитьAs an Egyptian whose last name is "Ramesses", thanks for telling the story of our ancestors.
ОтветитьRamsey is just settra the imperishable
ОтветитьIs that the same Merneptah whose stele is the first known mention of the Israelite people?
ОтветитьIt should be noted that ancient people saw religion and politics differently from us "modern" people. For them, the two were not separate categories but rivers that very often intersected if not joined into one river. Thus, the public works and religious acts Ramesses takes were not simply a matter of ego or politics with a religious facade. Rather, they were sincere religious acts that also played into the political structure of ancient Egypt.
Ответитьhay how are you
ОтветитьSo, that's the end of the story?
ОтветитьGuess the writing was on the (temple) wall.
ОтветитьWe're did the British get that bust of ramsies? Was it during the French and British invasion of Egypt which napolian used to conker France?
ОтветитьI am now going to refer to my CK3 runs where my ruler lives forever and has like 1000 kids "Pulling a Ramses"
ОтветитьIt kind of blows my mind that there were ancient egyptologist in what we would consider ancient Egypt.
ОтветитьThis man is the definition of "A small bit of an ego"
ОтветитьGreat video.
ОтветитьHow to have a lasting legacy.
Turn your loss into a victory and sign your name in every monument you and others built. 👍
Him marrying 200 wifes may be hid biggest success
ОтветитьPlease do the Greek war of independence of 1821 against the ottoman empire next
I've been asking for this since the first episodes of the sengoku Jidai!
Moses?
ОтветитьGotta say, "look upon my works, ye mighty..." could be the catchphrase for this reign.
ОтветитьRamses Harden, his own heart
Ответитьfun fact Ramesses the second actually has a passport where is written as pharaoh of Egypt it was needed for him to travel to France for studying
ОтветитьThere is no question, never in history has such power been in the hands of a few. The pharaoh and Egyptian empire is mentioned in the Bible and the Qur'an. The level of might achieved by the Egyptians may now only be achieved by nations such as the United States.
ОтветитьA community note of the past would've required the entire community to carve the column and erect it next to the inscriptions.
ОтветитьIt’s awesome to see how you guys are still getting sponsorships by the Total War guys, considering they were the ones who originally got this series going with a video on the first Roman-Carthaginian war for Rome Total War ages ago.
ОтветитьRamses II [making finger guns at own statue]: "Lookin' divine, Ramses!"
Ramses statue [making finger guns in turn]: "Back atcha, Ramses!"
