Great video. However, did not see any mention of wearing Safety Glasses.
In the video you are under a vehicle w/o any glasses.
You never ever want to accidently get Solder splattered in your eyes.
Safety First.
Wow I learned a lot from this. Thank you.
ОтветитьSuper helpful, thank you so much for this
ОтветитьTop tip. Solder has an L in the middle not a W. Lol
ОтветитьCrimping tool? Wire stripper? Buddy, I have teeth for a reason.
ОтветитьNowadays most solder is lead free, especially here in europe. And you can find amazing "portable" soldering irons for really cheap, like the pinecil. It's usb powered but it's called portable since you could run it from a power bank if it's strong enough, but personally im just using a 65w adapter (like a laptop adapter) from the wall outlet.
Since it has the heating element in the tip it heats up in just a few seconds and can easily compete with "mid-tier" soldering stations. Just make sure you use the correct tip for higher temp applications.
I have all these tools thanks to todays prices and the willingness to learn thank god im naturally curious about how to do things
ОтветитьExcellent and concise descriptions
ОтветитьWhy the hell are you wearing gloves?
ОтветитьExcellent A++
ОтветитьWill those self soldering heat.shrinks useable for electric bike applications?
ОтветитьDo those butt connector clamps actually work?
Ответитьcan you drink water before you make an asmr tutorial 😭
Ответить1. It's soLder not sodder. Those heat-shrink solder connectors are substandard. Cut one open and you'll see that there is no complete penetration of the solder . It doesn't go through the all the conductors. That will create a corrosion point and eventually get hot and fail. They are just a cheap chinese rubbish.
ОтветитьOh by the way, I bought that auto ratchet crimper and yes u can still over crimp the crimper. And even if u just squeeze the auto crimper doesn't mean it's strong enough to crimp. Not worth the high price. I think I better stay with solder heat shrink sleeve. Or maybe is my lack of experience.
ОтветитьI have trying to work on my wire harness, pigtails on my silverado low beam headlight. Gave it 3 tries. All I did wrong u mentioned. I got to keep trying. Using your last method solder sleeve heat shrink. I used a uncontrollable flame clicker on solder and stayed too long on shrink sleeve. Burnt insulation. Thx on your video.
ОтветитьSoldering makes a solid wire. Solid wires work harden and break. If the wire is a vehicle or something that moves a lot dont solder. Crimp a splice or a connector. If you wouldnt use a solid wire why would you make it a solid wire?
ОтветитьGreat to have the hot knife option, for hash lol great vid!
ОтветитьSuch a well made video thank you
ОтветитьThank you very much for this video. Really helpful and practical. 😀
Ответить200$ for ratcheting crimpers?!? Get yourself some Klein tools for $30 and your good.
Ответить… charge $100 and hour for however much time they spent … probably with a minimum hour charge 😳
ОтветитьFor proper conductivity and minimum resistance, for example, the wires must not be twisted as in India, nor dipped in tin by immersion. This method is probably prohibited everywhere in the EU.
ОтветитьGreat video thank you
ОтветитьPronounced : SOLE DER. Not SODER. It's even spelt with an L.!!
ОтветитьVery well done, personally I'll stay with the old method of soldering and wrapping with quality electrical tape. That lasts so long you'll forget you even did it.
ОтветитьIs the soldering technique recommended for splicing those main electrical house cables?
ОтветитьNice tutorial, thank you.
ОтветитьRather than going to the “STEALERSHIP” to have the job done for 1,200$ ! I decided to just buy the connectors and 100$ crimper/stripper combo myself. I saved 1,100$ 😎
Ответитьdo you really have to solder? i never did that and seems to work just fine. Probably less secure but for what reason?
ОтветитьCan I use this method on household fuse box wires, or is it not safe/protective/strong enough?
ОтветитьWhich would you recommend for replacing headlight connectors?
Ответитьcan electrical tape work as well!?
ОтветитьPerfect, thank you.
ОтветитьGood job 🕊
ОтветитьWhere to find a 4awg connector? it looks like the ones you are using have copper on the inside and rubber on the outside. I can't seem to find these on my own. Am I missing something?
Ответитьfor soldering, i prefer non-rosin core solder and instead apply my own flux, i use less and it comes out with none or almost none yellow rosin or flux to clean up after
ОтветитьGreat information and camera work. You seem to know what you are talking about.
ОтветитьDude how are you fitting both wires in a crimping connector made for the size of one wire.
ОтветитьIf any one reads my comment I have a Honda CRV doing my passenger high beam noticed the adapter tha adapter to the light oxidized so decided to change it but now I am stuck the wires are black green and yellow the park I bought has red yellow and blue 😂😂what goes with what !!!my mind is telling me not to do 😂😂😂
ОтветитьAs shown in other videos where they cut the joint, the 3rd type does not make as good a connection as a correctly soldered joint. Inner parts of wire are not soldered at all. So even though it's more convenient, it may not be the right choice in some applications. I feel it is better than a mechanical butt connector though because the wires are twisted together first increasing surface contact and then held in place by the outer layer of solder.
ОтветитьNo flux?! You have erred sir
ОтветитьADDING HEAT SHRINK TUBING
If you are soldering a joint, say after a wire break, or attached to or near a plastic harness connector plug, (or component such as a relay), put the heat-shrink tubing on the wire BEFORE you start any soldering, and then SLIDE IT AWAY FROM the bared wire you are about to solder. This stops any likely heat transference to the heat shrink before it is slid finally into place over the soldered joint.
The greater the distance away from the area to be soldered the better. Obviously, the length of wire being worked upon will determine just how far away the heat-shrink can be placed in the first instance.
Just a suggestion...

P.S.
Heat-Shrink comes in closed end or cap formats too, and this can be useful for some jobs...
Thank you, great tutorial,,,
Ответитьsoldering wires makes brittle wire that breaks near the solder joint. Best to just twist em tightly and tightly electrical tape the whole region. Fastest and best and longest lasting.
ОтветитьAmazon has bulk rolls of heat shrink 3 to 1 shrinkage with 2 layers and adhesive . I prefer to double over the butt connectors with heat shrink tubes . Very Concise Video !
ОтветитьTo solder all you need is $25, I just got a iron for $7
Ответить
