Most people in the comments are missing the point saying never do that… If you are the one with the good credit and you want to help someone out by adding them as a Authorized User, then do that and just DONT GIVE THEM A CARD OF THEIR OWN. They don’t need it, all you wanna do is help their credit by giving them credit history. So you continue to make your same payments and both of you benefit. Charge them like $500+ one time if you want for letting them on but it’s not going to hurt you if you never give them a card to fk up. 🤷🏽‍♂️

No way…. If that individual don’t have wisdom in finance or the value and purpose of money they will tank your score quickly! It’s not on them it’s on you. I feel there are certain things that should never be shared…. My man, my credit, my car, my social security number… I mean this is not logical and not responsible information. The answer is always no, let’s figure out another way that don’t involve me.

This is true! However, not all cards will be from the life or the entire payment history of the person who owns the card. American Express will not transfer the payment history, they will do an inquiry on the authorized user and the credit utilization will start at the time of you being approved and added to the card. The positive, it will help your utilization. The negative for American Express, it will take two years to no longer be considered as a new account. The majority of all other credit cards will work as explained.

Basics 101. Also that person achieves a new account without a hard inquiry, it will possibility change length of credit, possibly lower CCU “credit card utilization”. Please be advised when doing this only use someone with 100% payment history and under 10% usage and preferably at least 10 years with that credit card for best results.
