Job is never guaranteed need to do more than land a job. How to maintain and sustain income stability.

1. You need to become indispensable. You do this by becoming really good at what you do. By investing your time and energy into mastering your craft. In order to master something you need to spend around 10,000 hours on your craft. The exact number is really arbitrary and depends on what you’re learning but the point is that you need to dedicate a lot of time to master your craft. No one was born great at their craft, they all had to spend a long time to get good at it

Schedule in practice time for whatever you’re doing in a way that doesn’t really interrupt or disrupt your routine. So if you can reduce the barrier to practice as much as possible then it just makes learning that much easier.

Isolating issues if you look at it at a prognostic way, then you can identify problems in your technique. Isolate the issue, so that you can get the technique down and then the strength/knowledge comes naturally there. Think of learning as the discipline itself.

2. Work towards financial freedom. When you have a job and buy into the idea of job se curity you assume that yourhat really excited me income will always be there. You rarely ever think about the worst that can happen or you’re pretending thataBd it could never happen. The truth is that you can lose your job. But since you’re not thinking about it you can’t prepare for it. You need to be very conservative and thoughtful about the money that you are saving. Prepare for the absolute worst case scenario. Start off by storering a thousand dollars for my emergency fund. Don’t touch it unless it’s a real emergency. It’s for the broken down car, or the potential medical bill. The unexpected will happen so planning for the unexpected becomes absolutely necessary and vital. After that keep building up the emergency fund even more. 1k, then 5k, 10k, and over 20k, until you have a year of expenses saved. The idea was that this money would give me padding. This was actually providing me with true freedom and true job security. Now if I got sick or if I couldnt work I would have my basic needs already met for at least 6 months or a year. and the weight that was removed and lifted off my shoulders because of this was immense. It also allowed me to pursue the things that i really cared about. You can have the power to say no to clients and projects that didnt have the budget or were not interesting. And focus my energy and time on things that really excited me.

Principles are the same
Try to get really really good at what you do. Try to improve every single day and invest back into yourself. And then be about your finances. Put money away for emergencies and build up as much financial security as you can.

Best advice I can give is really simple just start. You’ll feel like a total noob and it’ll be totally cringey but during that period of time where you’re just picking up something is when you’re going to make the biggest progress and all you have to do is just get out of the door and start. You’ll see the improvement and growth over time. You’ll also see the little wins along the way that keep you going. So just Keep being consistent and put in those small steps that will build up to big steps looking back.

Should I store my emergency fund in a savings account? The idea is to have immediate liquidity. Also, should I start investing in something only after I've saved up enough for contingencies? Can I dip into my emergency fund for investments?

Recently I found a new app called KOOK, almost nobody knows about it, but I think it is very useful for me to concentrate on my study, it’s an online study room with background music and streaming, I feel like I’m next to others so I should be on my best behavior but I also have full control over my privacy. I think it is worth to try,The only complaint is that it doesn't have an Android version yet, and many of my friends are Android phone users 🤷‍♀️

Being indispensable may be, in a job where you are employed by others, a good way of retaining a job, but it's the worst way of getting promotion. If there are 4 people going for a role. 3 of them are good at their job and show they want the next rung up, whereas the other is great at their job and has shown that others in that role were awful at it...that person is not going to get a promotion because they are needed in that specific role. If you are indispensable, you will get stuck in a specific role...which may or may not be secure.

What happens when the power goes off? Career over. Learn to grow stuff, learn to build, our way of life is going to change or we will all end up slaves of a tyrannical government as is what is happening right now.

Hmmm I don't necessarily relate- I have a stable, great paying, challenging job that I enjoy and It would be pretty hard to replace me and I bring a lot of direct monetary value to the company and am told constantly that I'm beyond safe at my job, and I still think everyday that I could lose this job and should save my money just in case- even though I've already saved over 50k this year. I've always thought about that I could lose my job at any moment...even though I never have. I guess I always thought that most people thought this way- I didn't realize that most people take their jobs for granted.

Being indispensable can lead to mixed results. Be careful with the hero syndrome. Many people (like me) loves saving a difficult situation or problem—instant gratification. Everyone starts to rely on you for this. You are indispensable. But you will fail sometime. And that's gonna be hard for everyone. A side effect could also be the bus factor. You need to share and teach what you know and do well so that your whole company is not stuck in case of an emergency because of you being in a coma. Becoming indispensable for that reason leads to having you classified as a risk. And nobody likes that.

My take on this. Be humble and be indispensable because you are bringing value and not just hiding everything you do from others.

This is so true: External job securitity doesn't really exist. I know it because I lost my job in the past. It's all about finding your own way in life and regaining security out of that.
