I am a bit curious about how are you scanning the images considering the size. I use an Epson V850 and I’m thinking how do I scan such long images when I get the camera. Could you elaborate on this, please?
Ответитьi love the pinkish hue on the first image
ОтветитьHello, I just purchased one of these amazing cameras! I am looking for a shutter release cable for it! Can you direct me to the correct one?
ОтветитьAre you sure the GX617 is a rangefinder? Mine isn't, is it a later model? Do I need to buy another one? 😂
ОтветитьI'm really digging the pano aspect. Quick question, did the 6x17 come before or after the GFX (since this is 2 years old now)?
ОтветитьHow did you even scan these lol
Ответитьquick question, what is the minimum focus distance? i am interested in using this camera for portraits and still life work. i think close ups is out the the questions but 2/3 body shots and from farther are perhaps an option. Any thoughts and or advice you could give me? i can't find anyone on the internet who has tried it. except someone who took pictures on a packed beach wich was pretty cool.
ОтветитьWatching again because I just got a 6x17 roll film back. Looking forward to more film videos.
ОтветитьMan that looked cold. I lived in Tasmania for 20 years and surfed all year round at many different beaches. I will always remember going out surfing when there was snow on the sand, being a mainlander, I could only last about 30-45 minutes before I'd have to go in, the locals would stay out for a couple of hours. They breed them tough in Tasmania.
ОтветитьThat's an awesome camera. I thought real hard about one back when they were new, but never pulled the trigger. Velvia 50 was always my favorite too. I also liked Kodak Techpan 25 FWIW. Techpan was a super fine-grained film that shows all kinds of detail.
ОтветитьAre you still using this camera? Thoughts after having it for a while Thomas?
ОтветитьThe last one is perfect!😊
ОтветитьWho do you use to develop your films?
ОтветитьYou have inspired me to try 6x17 photography. Going with the G617.
Ответитьabsolutely stunning
ОтветитьPlease see Josef Koudelka's books "Chaos", "Wall", "Ruins" and "Piemonte". It contains panoramic photos only, made by Fuji GX617 (and custom made panoramic Leica). His work is stunning.
ОтветитьSome day I'll be able to afford one lol.
ОтветитьHey Thomas - I sent you an email but thought I would also comment here. The centre ND filter for your Fuji 90mm lens says 2x on it, but it's annoyingly not talking about 2-stops, but rather doubling the shutter speed (i.e. ND2x which is only 1 stop). I noticed in your first video when discussing this camera you were referring to this as a 2-stop ND filter, which I suspect would explain a lot of the issues that you were seeing with overexposure on the first Portra 160 image and the first Velvia 50 image (which could well be exacerbated by your reciprocity calculations)! Hopefully that helps :)
ОтветитьWhat a great moments you make me in front of the pc!! Congrats for your impressive work!
ОтветитьIs that a lee filter system for your neutral gradient filter?
ОтветитьWell you really took the phrase literally 😏.. Pure hard work and so relieved to see dramatic step by step improvements.. And loved the dip...
ОтветитьI am guessing that is Whitley Bay with St Mary's Lighthouse and the background.
ОтветитьThomas, what gloves are those? I recently moved to Canada and find it really hard in winters to operate my camera and phone without gloves. My hands just freeze. the touch screen ones just aren't helpful and the ones you seem to have put on is the exact idea I had in my mind. Thanks
ОтветитьSometimes I look at an image I’ve taken and feel it isn’t enough to justify the work I’ve put in to take it. This last image is so normal yet so beautiful at the same time. Consider me inspired.
Ответить6x17 panorama is stunning
ОтветитьDo you use the centered graduated filer?
ОтветитьI've always wanted to use the Fuji GX617. What a beautiful camera!
ОтветитьWow I found your channel because of your 4x4 van build. But been watching your landscape videos now. I know nothing of photography and I have zero artistic ability whatsoever. Now I wish all those years of camping and hiking, I would have tried to take better pics than a simple snap on my stupid phone. The early morning shots you took are striking. Now I have visions of making my own wall art photos instead of commercially bought crap that I look at each day and mean nothing to me personally. Cheers.
ОтветитьWatching some of your footage is awesome, I've a small yt channel compared to you but after watching you and all the fantastic tips and the way you explain everything is so super helpful, thank you Tom. 👍👍
ОтветитьI absolutely enjoy all your videos! I am almost certain this will get lost in the void but I enjoy photography but I am a beginner, what is the best camera and set up to start landscape photography?
Ответитьnailed it! that last shot has beautiful warm purples and oranges.
Ответитьbahahahaha ending brilliant....images were nice to, now...to buy a GX617 or not hmmm, it does look bloody challenging!!!
ОтветитьGreat Thomas greetings from Finland! i admire your dedication to photography. You may not understand how much light you bring to the motivation of our other 'hobbyists' - big thanks and good luck / endurance continuing to do a good job Tom!!!
ОтветитьGreat ending lol
ОтветитьThis was great! That last shot was fantastic!
ОтветитьThe things some people will do!! (Well done Thomas; in the right spirit). Btw, love the final image.
ОтветитьA man of his word! Great Photos Thomas....
ОтветитьAgree, that your final image was the best. Well done Thomas.
ОтветитьBrilliant job! Thoroughly enjoyed watching the transformation and attention to detail. Good on ya, mate!
ОтветитьCan’t believe you actually did that at the end! 🤙🏼
ОтветитьGlad to see that the images turned out. I guess now that you realize that you and polar bears have a little something in common.
Ответитьthe thing about talking to your camera, isn't that other people will think youre crazy, its that other crazy people will think ''' one of us''
ОтветитьThat lighter center on the grey background you are using is making the Portra images look over exposed.
ОтветитьOne thing I haven't been able to figure out is why we wouldn't just use a digital camera. Is the quality of the pictures different? Just seems like we have more control with the digital camera
ОтветитьCertainly love the last image.
ОтветитьI also have the Fuji GX617. Regarding the centre filter exposure compensation, Fuji say 2 stops however a few photographers say one stop only. If you put it on a lens with a 77mm thread and meter with it on and off in spot metering mode, I found there to only be a one stop difference as well for my 90mm centre filter. BTW, how do you scan the large negs/positives?
ОтветитьWonderful video! The sunrise image is beautiful, easily my favorite from this video.
ОтветитьGenuine humanity in this one. I relate to this vid so much
