I spent a year in Thailand working with their most prestigious local university where all the oligarchs would send their kids (that weren't smart enough to study abroad lol). The first thing they told me when I got there was to show my faculty ID anytime I got stopped by police so I wouldn't get extorted or fucked with. Came in handy three different times.
