Mary perfectly summed up the problem with people and pit-bulls; she acted exactly the way that you should NEVER act around a dog! I had a pit-bull come running at me a couple of weeks ago, not the first time a dog has tried to attack me, and I've acted the same way every time; stand your ground, make yourself intimidating to the dog (you are larger than every dog) and every time this has happened to me the dog has stopped and not attacked me. The pit-bull issue and the gun issue are very similar in the way that people need more education on the subject and you should never leave a child unsupervised around a large dog the same way you shouldn't leave a child unsupervised around a gun. I don't believe in banning things just because you're afraid of them.

When the new president came in for my HOA (appointed by the previous president), they started getting the parking lot power washed more frequently, the plants trimmed more frequently, had the audacity to say that my back yard had a shrub that was too big and we had to take care of it instead of the gardeners that they hired for the rest of the trimming (the gardeners used to go back there and take care of it), wanted to come into my home for an inspection of something that had nothing to do with us then threatened to call "the officer" when they were told no, wanted their neighbors to pay for damage to their roof because "a coconut fell from their tree and damaged their roof", and when another condo across the lot had a termite infestation so bad the roof caved in, they decided all the owners had to pitch in several thousand dollars each because there was no money left in the coffers. There are a lot of other things they've done to other people.
The owners and tenants revolted and now there is a new new president who stays out of everyone's business.

The idea of an hoa to help preserve the home value of a neighborhood was good, the practice is awful. I live in an hoa and they basically bully us with threats of $100/DAY fines if we don't keep things in compliance. If it's something simple like taking in your garbage then cool. But i received these threats about the clovers in my yard. I probably had 20 clovers in my front yard. I was doing something about it, but it's literally a weed. They spread. And the threat of $3k in a single month is insane
