From a storytelling perspective, there is SO MUCH going in these two scenes.

1. He's a social introvert intimidated by other people, and now he's surrounded by very intimidating older men.
2. They think he's the wrong guy and force him to do something he can't do.
3. Not only does he try to do it anyway, he really GOES for it.
4. He's terrible.
5. They still can't tell it's the wrong guy, and actually double down and back up what he's doing instead.
6. He pulls it off so well, the dude on coke is moved to tears.
