The ONLY carrier in the world to my knowledge that has NEAR the capability of a US super carrier would be France's Charles DeGaul. With modern munitions and STOL aircraft, huge aircraft carriers are an extravagant absurdity both economically and operationally. Small and numerous is a far wiser strategy. Nuclear powered engines are little better - because they effectively deny the ship access to ports and impose a scarcity of spare parts, tools and skilled personnel in the event of a breakdown or combat damage. Big nuclear ships are only useful to countries like the US, intent on asymetric warfare against weaker countries far from its own shores. In short, there is no excuse for them.

The Chinese strategy is not to compete by building a load of Carriers, they are instead making something much cheaper. Supersonic drones missiles, that can be launched into space and drops to sink the carrier. The supersonic missiles drone speed is mach 6, which is impossible to defend against.

I'd love a video explaining just why the US believes it needs to be this armed. I can't help feeling it doesn't, it just has an economy that is addicted to military employment and can't ween itself off. No country has held a candle to the United States' armed forces for decades, arguably since WWII, yet it doesn't downsize. Compare that to the armed forces of Europe, which have all reduced massively in the post-war period.
