Thank you. You explain everything so well. Now I know what not to do.
ОтветитьImagine being so stupid you needed a tutorial on using a hammer
ОтветитьVery informative and you are very cheerful
ОтветитьThe Romans didn't have splitting problems as they didn't use round nails. Round nails are just quicker to make.
ОтветитьHi, I am looking to build my first desk. The desk will be drop leaf attached to a cabinet behind it extending the desktop and providing storage for my pc, cable management etc. Does anyone know how i could go about building the main cabinet (length = 180cm, width = 20cm height = 75cm) in a way that i would be able to take apart and reassemble if I need to? Also how would i mount shelves inside it? (I don't really want screws showing) Thanks.
ОтветитьAn actual beginner's woodworking video!
ОтветитьHi David, I want to join two pieces of wood and may need to split them in the future. In this case, should I should nails or screws? Thanks!
When you said build yourself a jig and I saw the jig needed the same thing I was trying to make I almost passed out 😂
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьGood lesson!
ОтветитьThanks for the video i wish i could ask some questions about a project i have in mind
ОтветитьWhy use an engineers ball pein hammer for nails? Use of the proper tool is a first step to getting good results whatever you are doing.
ОтветитьHi. Just getting into woodwork... How can I make the jig that is in the video? Looks like 3 bits of wood nailed together
ОтветитьI’m 74 years old and I learnt something new today with the nail splitting the wood brilliant 🤝
ОтветитьThank you 🙂
ОтветитьYou sound like Peter DInklage
ОтветитьMy technique is..put nails first as he did..but the nail should penetrate just a little..out some glue and press it to stay in place then hammer it down..
ОтветитьLove it
ОтветитьПовчально. Дякую.
ОтветитьThank you it's very helpful.
ОтветитьThanks a lot, it's very helpful and explained well.
ОтветитьBest video for a beginner like me. I have never used a hammer for any reason.
Ответить👍
ОтветитьThis is very helpful, thanks!
ОтветитьThanks a million ..we want more videos like this.. well explained 💓
ОтветитьSometimes when I use your method, I like to send the nails in diagonal, and also not parallel to each other. This way they can't easily pull out.
Also, when I was a child I preferred the same style hammer as in this video. The sharp claw of other hammers scared me, the handle on this one was small for my little hands, and the head was lighter for easy control while I learned. I still have the hammer and will use it for teaching my children. Thanks for the nostalgia ;).
So will he reply to me?
ОтветитьYou're an excellent teacher! Thank you
ОтветитьAnother way to do it is use small angle brackets and small screws, if you don’t mind the look of angle brackets.
ОтветитьWatching from Pakistan sir ❤❤❤
ОтветитьWhat is your name sir
ОтветитьSo helpful! I've made a total mess of the corners of a few boxes I've made and I was thinking to myself, "I bet that there are some simple things I can do to stabilize everything." Looking forward to trying out these techniques! Thank you.
ОтветитьLove your vids David, this one really hits the nail on the head!
Ответитьwhen does one choose nails vs screws?
ОтветитьOh my God 😂I was literally just going to ask if dulling the top of a nail actually works.
I've heard rumours of this unicorn, but I just have never bothered to try it.
Which just makes me lazy as hell since somebody told me that approximately 20 years ago.
BTW THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!
I'm going to try it now I'm going to use an existing project that I'm also putting together at the same time, because if I'm not multitasking my head will spontaneously combust😂
Tried it it works but I have a question. How to keep the nails from bending when you're trying to flatten the end?
Yes I did try different Nails & lengths. They all bent even slightly some of them badly. I think I just answered my own question I'll put them in a vice. Me😅 so dumb😂
Long story short too late. I used to work at Home Depot so I know that certain metals. So to anybody who's going to bother reading this if you're ever buying chain to tow your boat etc. make sure you get the right grade Otherwise your boats going to sail off the back of your car and it will most likely cause an accident. So that being said are there stronger nails.
I have to say that I think I just did a public service announcement.
Awesome
Thank you
Thanks for tips. I had to exchange my nails after watching this video.
ОтветитьWhat if you are joining 2 pieces of wood in length. As to make a corner post for a bunk bed. Is this done the same way?
ОтветитьThanks I’m a hodgepodge diy person,, have a go sort of person, a granny that needs to fix this quick, looking at your skills, I can improve my little projects. Thanks
ОтветитьI’ve been looking for advice on how to keep the wood stable to screw or nail the pieces together. The jig is a great idea!! Do you have a video on how to build the jig? Or is there something I could buy to do this? I’m not seeing anything when I google for this :(
ОтветитьFree Palestine 🇵🇸
ОтветитьThanks for this demo. Currently DIY-ing a fence topper for my backyard. Wish me luck!
ОтветитьIf I do this even when all 4 pieces are connected with 2 nails per corner it's still going to wobble. Even with screws it's still going to wobble. How do you guys make stuff that doesn't wobble😮?
Ответитьi really enjoyed this video ^_^ thanks .
ОтветитьI really love this and it’s very simple 💙 thank you for this answer <3
Also, I’ll admit, he kinda reminds me of Gordon Ramsay, but with woodworking, very simple and straight to the point ☺️💙
Very nice, good tutorial, more videos like one
ОтветитьDo you need a jig to build the jig?… you know to hold it while you are hammering it?…and then what about ‘that jig’ ?…does it need a jig? Just asking for a friend!
