The irony6 is that Dreadnought also made the Royal Navy's battleships obsolete.
The British shipbuilding industry was their version of the military-industrial complex.
the concept of a uniformed all big gun battleship was developed by Italian naval architect Vittorio Cuniberti
ОтветитьImagine the UK enacting that policy right now and then having to have more ships than USA and China combined
ОтветитьWith how much larger the British fleet was its a miracle that the Germans preformed as well as they did in Jutland
ОтветитьHMS Dreadnought... Tier III only on World of Warships, but without her the mighty battleships of World War II like the Hood, the Bismarck, and the Yamato wouldn't have existed. By then, of course, it was clear that the aircraft carrier was the most powerful variety of warship.
ОтветитьSemantically speaking, it was not the aircraft carrier, (so much) that made the (Dreadnought) battleship obsolete, but the aircraft itself. An aircraft carrier is only as good as its airwing is available and effective. Without its airwing, an aircraft carrier is just a very big target for a battleship.
Ответить"Now that our superiority has been proven with 70 battleships, let's declare them obsolete and let the world know we have one dreadnaught!"
ОтветитьThat editing at the start and end with Heart of Oak song is mind blowing ❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьGreat video! I love the cooperation with other history channels, I am going to check them out.
ОтветитьFrance Has a Navy
England And I took that personally
Cool tyfor the suggestions
ОтветитьIt sucks that Battleships became obsolete from aircraft carriers as they are far the better looking/cooler ship.
ОтветитьLand: exists
The British Empire: I’ll take that
The US Navy with its over reliance on aircraft carriers is going the same way as the Royal Navy's over reliance on its dreadnaught battleships.
ОтветитьRULE BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES AND ALSO WAIVES THE RULES... 🇬🇧🙏😎
ОтветитьTirpitz was so badass his face grew him an extra beard!😮
ОтветитьAt what point did battleships stop being dreadnoughts, and became post dreadnoughts?
ОтветитьWhat is the point of the smaller calibre guns. I mean it says the first Dreadnaught had 27 smaller calibre guns and this was pre aircraft warfare I believe
ОтветитьFear god and Dreadnought!
ОтветитьHMS Dreadnaughty
ОтветитьGermany and Britain making dreadnought after dreadnought while Switzerland be like: Oh wow fire works are about to begin let's order some fries and Burger . But wait WTF at that time there were no KFC OR BURGER KING OR MCDONALD'S . SAD FOR SWITZERLAND
ОтветитьEditing and quality is very impressive❤❤
And the background music❤❤❤ For Britain use British musics....as done here🇬🇧👍🏻
Numerous fictional and computer games have a dreadnought class ship. The name stuck after over a hundred years. It still sounds bad ass.
ОтветитьGerman navy: exists
U.K: reeeeeee
Fantastic videos, thank you very much for better informing me. I hope you can find the time to produce more videos. Happy New Year.
ОтветитьThe carrier will soon be made obsolete to the new class of flying ships called the "Missile" and "Drone".
ОтветитьWoW 👌 👏 👍, really enjoyed that history lesson
ОтветитьMost importantly, the Dreadnaughts inspired a kickass Sabaton song.
“And the Dreadnaughts dread nothing at all!”
Why do the animations look like they're going 50 knots like some speed boat? It really takes away from these videos for me.
ОтветитьAs an American, im happy the Brits are on our side. Never underestimate their ability to one-up their opponents lol. Tenacious country that one.
ОтветитьIn fact the German Navy was never planned to rival the Royal Navy. The basic idea was the plan to build a navy that would mean a risk for every other navy to attack. The so called arms-race was an invention by Jacky Fisher as he could use that word as an argument for demanding more ships for his beloved Royal Navy. So "arms-race" became somewhat like an idiom, but in reality the German Navy was never a real equivalent rival of the Royal Navy.
And this idiom works even today. Here you say "Germany began an aggressive battleship building program". So was the self-conception and the two power standard of the Royal Navy not aggressive?
Furthermore look at the North Sea. This is the basic surrounding of the German west cost and most German ships had a range that covered just that Sea. So it was in Germany´s vital interest to have a navy that would secure the North Sea what led to an obvious conflict of interests with the UK. But naming Germany´s interest "aggressive" backfires on you, the Brits, as their building programs could also be called aggressive.
Nice video
ОтветитьBetween this video and the one on carriers it will be pertinent to talk about the first aero naval battle in the world in Topolobambo, during the Mexican revolution.
ОтветитьThe boer war Britain "found itself involved in". What a wonderfully neutral way to describe Britain's extra violent form of colonialism.
ОтветитьКакая миролюбивая Англия. Аж умиляешься.
ОтветитьWhy couldn’t you build a catamaran battle ship? It would be super fast, far harder to sink.
ОтветитьFinally, nuclear subs shooting ICBM underwater destroyed everything afloat. Combined with recon stealth fighters covering 1000’s of miles in minutes. I was hopeless for the enemy.
ОтветитьIf it was not for defective british shells that had a habit of detonating early, the German fleet at jutland would have been reduced to obscurity.
ОтветитьYou missed mentioning 33 light cruisers of Kaiserliche Marine at the start of WW1.Pretty sure they had 57-58 cruisers in total.
ОтветитьThe fact that dreadnought translates to “fear nothing” seems kind of ironic, since when it was launched it was instantly the most feared ship on earth
ОтветитьThe moment you switched to the WoWs footage of Dreadnought sabaton started their guitar solo that is about 1/3rd of the way through the song, so instead of classical music, i got badass quitar from my favorite metal band that never dissapoints
ОтветитьAND THE DREADNOUGHTS DREAD NOTHING AT ALL!!!
U-Boat has entered the chat
Some flying bois have entered the chat
Speaking about Adm.Fisher there is a nice Quote by him: "the german fleet should be copenhagend ( i.e. surprise attack without declaration of war) .says a lot about british propaganda since 1880.
Ответитьam i the only one watching this cuz of the music band called dreadnought
ОтветитьBloody Nelson Mandela adevert!! Damn demon!
ОтветитьWE ARE BEING REINFORCED WITH A DREADNAUGHT
ОтветитьThen came the aircraft carrier.
ОтветитьBritain came very close in owning this,,,but they were to busy with other colonies
Ответить
