The word theorized is a mischaracterization of Steiner's work.

That the ideas/information he presents are theoretical is your opinion, which is perfectly okay for you to hold, but, Steiner did not present the ideas/information as either his beliefs or theories. The ideas/information are presented as not coming from him, but being presented by him as that which he has discovered through research.

Whether you believe that he is reporting actual findings of research, or that he is just theorizing, or rather, making the ideas/information up himself, is not the point.

Only that a distinction should be made between your opinion, and what the author says about his own work.

Thank you for the video and thorough efforts at researching this material.

Steiner never wanted people to fill themselves with all of his understandings. The last thing he said he wanted was to have a group of 'Steinerites' in the world. He gave instructions on how to meditate and he gave many lectures on what he found in his meditations. He didn't claim you had to believe any of it, search for yourself. He believed each must go their own way, not turn into encyclopedists of Steiner quotes. I've seen a number of comments that Steiner was a racist, I don't agree with that. He did believe in the evolution of consciousness and each group would move the human forward in history. But that doesn't mean a black man growing up in Europe wouldn't be just as intellectually capable as a white person in that society. He had many warnings about the rise of the industrial age, the imbalance of soul and technology, the separative ego and its damaging effect on Earth. We shouldn't be so willing to condemn on superficial knowledge and a few quotes found online. Steiner is not easy going. His style is a bit archaic and a person can easily feel lost in an ocean of strange concepts and words. You could start with contemporary writers who have taken Steiner into the modern era like Dennis Klocek 'The Seer's Handbook', Christopher Bamford's 'Start here', or Robert Sardello's 'Silence' or 'Heartfulness'. I moved away and came back to Steiner work for many years, it can seem outrageously exotic to many people. I suggest you use what you can... focusing, concentration, reverence, imagination, are the main components of growth in this work.. There are artists who revere Steiner who have very little understanding of Anthroposophical medicine, Anthroposophic doctors who know very little of Steiner's philosophy, biodynamic farmers who are happy to use what they can to grow healthy food and nourish living soil. Steiner gave the world a great deal, take what you can that fits best for your own needs.

Steiner was an interesting character. One moment he surprises you by getting some things so right and being ahead of his time, the next you come across something unbelievably naive and ignorant for a man who lived only 100 years ago.
Still, with all the shortcomings (e.g.philosopher he was not) and all the pseudoscience, he was at least empirically minded. Something which cannot be said about most of these occultists, including Anthroposophy after he died.

Thank you for giving attention to the monumental works of this man. I wish more could attempt to open their minds to his thought. A friend recently commented that there is just too much material, doesn't seem like a valid reason to not engage at all. I was curious if one has ever come across his concept of highest divinity. I just read his views on the elohim combining into a unity but didn't catch if he ever mentions anything above the 7 united elohim's consciousness.

I disagree with the view that a spirit is only present in human beings. Animals are also connected with a spirit, only more in a collective grid of, for example the cat-being, or the dog-being. They don't live with the sense of an individual "I am" awareness. That's how animals are diffetent from us, human beings. And I am a human being, and not an animal writing typing with its paw ☺👋🧙‍♀️

I am a huge Steiner fan as well as many other authors. Steiner resonates the most with me of any author from the occult world. My experience with the Anthroposophical Society was not a good one but it does not change my read of Steiner (they are very cultish yes but the experience is similar to most churches who come together for other reasons than knowledge and understanding). Steiner is susceptible to a lot of mis-readings/mis-interpretations if you only read a few of his works. I have to admit I read something deeper each time I re-read Steiner especially after reading other Occult works. Steiner is one piece to the puzzle however he is a very big piece in my opinion. Thank you for doing this video Angela!

Owen Barfield, a follower of Steiner, was a member of the Inklings. Both J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis regarded him as a close friend and major influence on their thinking--this, despite anthroposophy's obvious separation from orthodox Christianity.

I read Gary Lachman's biography of Rudolf Steiner a few years ago. He was originally a founder member of 'Blondie', and their original bass player. I showed up at one of their recording sessions (for a song called 'In The Flesh') many moons ago. At the time I was with someone who was a direct ascendant of 'Johnny Appleseed', who was an evangelist for the teachings of Emmanuel Swedenborg. I'm presently reading Mr. Lachman's book on Swedenborg. What does Angela's Symposium have to say about Swedenborg?

I once attended a Rudolph Steiner-'Waldorf' school. This was from the fall of 1970 to the winter of 1971. Judy Collins' kid sister, Holly Ann, was one of my classmates. At the time, Judy had a top 20 hit with her version of 'Amazing Grace'. Also, at the time, my late older brother was a touring musician, and as guitarist for The Buddy Miles Band had toured with Jimi Hendrix. It was also at that time that my brother met Herbie Worthington, who would later go on to be the principal photographer for Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks. Who also attended a Rudolf Steiner-'Waldorf' school was (drum roll, please): Mick Fleetwood!

The man comes over as deeply disturbed, especially with his ideas regarding race, animals and the whole merging Jesus thing. I had a classmate who grew up with anthroposophy and her ideas of how the world supposedly was made it very hard for me not to burst out chuckling. It is a wonder to me how people still follow this. Either you believe in the whole of his ideas or not at all, cherry picking only the socially acceptable beliefs makes no sense. And if you look at the whole thing it seems like mingled together racist invention.

He had a big split , good to read about. the reason he left is because theosophy is just a personality cult masquerading as an 'esoteric' religion.

esoteric religions are generally tribes that use the 'allure' of secret wisdom as a way to attract the kind of followers who will be extremely dedicated and not question ORDERS and MINDSET.

they are 'hard' cults in this sense.
Steiner was a great success and remembered because he wanted the best for all humans and tried to understand and respect the various cycles and types of existence. esoteric cults, generally do not, and are willing to 'order' the priorities of human beings for their own person members benefit, often for the true benefit of the 'leader' who is a personality cult leader at the top of the organization.

steiner's work never got finished. sadly, his followers made a personality cult leader out of him and did precisely the wrong thing.
this too, was a shortcoming of steiner's as he was unable to properly set up a system of communication and priorities for the average person ( his followers ) to carry on his mission.

Steiner's mission was not to aggrandize his name , but to work on the continuous project of human spirit. people make 'prophets' of these great leaders because people are weak and not creative and scared and also because sometimes this strategy is very helpful for passing on devotion to a way of life.

In new york city, steiner stil has a cult following him and not the spirit of ideas he transmitted well and with joy and dedication. We need people like this, but those who worship 'names' and 'prophets' often obstruct the progress of those newcomers who carry their spirit.

ironic no?

angela , i'd like to do a movie review with you of one of the best most spiritual movies ever made in the 1970s , the great age of creative cinema. it is a spanish language movie with subtitles. can we watch it on twitch and then breaks to comment and discuss, and then use the recording to edit/cut ( i'll help with that using final cut pro and make it something you like. , but i have to be part of the 'review' . it will be a review like 'mystery science theatre 2000' but not 'comedy' , rather 'spiritual talk'. let me know. look for me @kirshzeev on twitter or @zeevkirsh telegram or linkedin
