Since I can understand a bit of Latin is been pleasurable to try to make sense of those documents.
ОтветитьDid the villagers remove, as a community, to the colonies?
ОтветитьThey cooked John to death over that stone wall hahahaha
ОтветитьNever understood the 3day time limit.
ОтветитьAmazing! How does an entire village get buried?
ОтветитьFantastic work, Mr. Robinson.
Ответить“I’m sure you’ll manage”. I love the nuance of Johns sarcasm towards Phil 😂
ОтветитьPhil Harding is a bully.
ОтветитьThe medieval language on your document was fascinating
ОтветитьI clicked on for the documentary, but that's Tony Robinson, aka Baldrick! I always knew he had a cunning plan.
ОтветитьWhat if the name Ulnaby is inspired by the old norse god Ull/Ullr? Ul/Ull/Ulle-names are very common in south-eastern Norway and east and mid-Sweden, and it is seen as a part of Swedish early-mid iron age expansion. "By" is most definitely from the iron age, perhaps later, and means "city in both Norwegian and Swedish.
ОтветитьWhy always only 3 days?
ОтветитьPhil is such a character:D
ОтветитьWatching 3 people arguing over a hole in the ground
ОтветитьYou can see the plots in the ground where the houses were and the people lived . . . Amazing🥳
ОтветитьThe name ulnaby.. sounds like Swedish, means something in the affect of wolfts village.
ОтветитьSome archeologists these are! ..."John said I would find no rocks." And yet there are rocks.
ОтветитьThis channel has become my latest addiction ! 😊 I love these video's and watching the past come to life so to speak !! Bravo !
ОтветитьThank god Phil isn’t wearing his denim short shorts. 🤢
Ответитьhow did this all get buried in a flat open area covered with vegetation? not exactly a sandstorm or dunes moving around?
Ответить"...and freezing archeologists." 🤣🤣🤣 Almost didn't catch that crack at the beginning!😂
ОтветитьI miss Mick and his colourful jumpers. Thanks for re-upping this one.
ОтветитьI love the graphics added to the video. First Class!
Ответитьahhh .-) as a Norwegian I knew the moment I saw the name of the village that it was of Norse origin .-) cool .-)
Ответить"Its very higgldy piggldy"
ОтветитьHeard they were gonna build a tesco over it
ОтветитьToo bad the USA has no in-depth history shows like this and others where the hosts actually spend a day in the life of commoners centuries ago.
ОтветитьYou see, I'm the only gay in the village
ОтветитьI'm American, my siblings and I used to play foot wrestling as kids. That's really interesting.
ОтветитьIs that a PNG hat?
ОтветитьI'm surprised that THIS is the BEST-preserved medieval village in Britain. I would have imagined that there would have been some above-ground ruins that would have been protected and preserved.
ОтветитьUlnaby sounds norse
ОтветитьHow do you know that another one even more preserved will never be found?
ОтветитьPersonally I think these 3 day digs are ridiculous. And make a mockery out of proper archeology for the sake of a stupid TV show. If u can't do a proper dig then leave it alone until someone can!
ОтветитьOh boy, I wish I could add to their geophys, this is such an old way of doing it. Geophys can outline items the size of tanks now with pucks the size of soccer balls that you set out for a week prior to work.
ОтветитьI don’t care what Phil might know, he wouldn’t be on my site
Ответить"Bridget always gets the Save!"
☀️ I dont always agree with Mick, but I always love him, and Stewart, Helen, Phil ......... and I know Mick soars with the Stars. ✨💛🌙.
To many ads
ОтветитьThree days? That’s absurd, why? The farm isn’t going to go bankrupt without that field for a year, or ten.
ОтветитьI have never seen so many ads in a video I have watched.
ОтветитьI could listen to Phil talk all day. His accent sounds historic to me. Similar to what the early British colonists to North America may have sounded.
ОтветитьI love how these guys are all professionals in their own right but they give each other hell. 😂 That’s a dig I’d like to be on.
ОтветитьVery misleading title ! If this is the best that can be found in Britain, it’s very disappointing.
Ответитьpoor landowner is just worrying about when he can start plowing
Ответить3 days…. I really will never understand why the 3 day time limit. I mean as an archaeologist it seems an impossible task to excavate anything in 3 days unless you have 1000’s of workers and machinery which is always difficult wil how delicate archaeology can be
ОтветитьThe folks here are actually having a good time! It's good to see professionals enjoy their jobs!
ОтветитьTo only take three days is silly. Take as long as you need to accomplish the dig.
ОтветитьRIP Mick, you are still shining just as bright as you did in life through these episodes ❤
ОтветитьIf we're going with the assumption that the plough in the painting was depicted correctly then I would say they didn't recreate it as it was depicted. In the painting/drawing the "mull board?" extends 6 or more inches past the middle upright. The real world replica "mull board" stops at that same upright. I also think that from looking at the drawing that the "mull board" could be adjustable via the white handle that is sticking up. Anyway I think that is not a reasonable facsimile of the depicted plough. Just sayin...
