The spellcard rules were literally created so that powerful people like Sakuya and Remilia didn't dominate everyone else tho, that way they could still fight to satisfy themselves without maiming everyone they came across.

IIRC, the reason why Sakuya throws knives instead of stabbing people, is that she thinks that stabbing people is not ellegant as throwing knives.

Canonically most of the most powerful in Gensokyo agree to use danmaku, since they all know that if they actually faught with intent to kill at full power they would all kill eachother in a battle where basically everyone loses lmao

There are many instances to this. Even Stage 1 bosses like Seiran are somewhat OP, given that she can materialize a projectile anywhere. It may seem average at first, but then you realize that she can make a bullet appear right in your brain.
