Software in java will totally crash if you don't give it at least a gig of memory to work with.

Then, from the point of view of this video, it's April 1st for me all year long...

I use Java, as highschool inspired me to actually learn how to at least write a decent program. Managed to create an autoplayer for a game in it and it's actually kinda fine. I don't intend on becoming a professional developer, so having Java as a tool is awesome

Most complaints about Java is just a side affect of the good things. It's a "what is more important" kind of situation.

For example :
There is a lot of boiler plate code. That is because the whole OOP thing, they had scaling in mind. Without it, reading a big application would be a clusterf*ck like JS. (The whole reason TypeScript was invented for JS). Plus you get a crazy good autocomplete in Java because it's so strict with OOP, so you are not really typing as much as you think. You can catch your mistakes before you even run the app. The IDE knows what you mean to type already after like 1 letter. It also allows very easy to follow debugging. I would take too much boiler plate code for all these features any day. Java is the way it is to eliminate the "wild west feel where anything goes" like some other languages and reduce obvious human error.

"Luckily Java made HTML and JavaScript look like good abstraction"? Luckily? Luckily? That was THE billion dollar mistake, much bigger than NULL.

For your understanding my primary language is python, that “dynamically typed language for kids, data science and machine learning” but when I code on java I feel how elegant programming can be.

Java gets its bad reputation from its complicated backend frameworks, with an honorable mention to Spring. However, anything that has been developed in the past 10 years and targets a local machine, device, or mobile is actually tolerable.

I don't hate java.

To this day, I can not find a single person able to tell me why it is necessary to put logic into SingletonFactoryProxyFacadeContextStrategyImpl instead of writing actually meaningful code.

Java evolves faster than JS these days. They are getting cool expressions every day, while we in JS only have statements, like in good old days.

My first programming language was Java. I took an AP CS class in high school and it was my first bit of programming experience ever. The absolute madness Java brought me is ridiculous. Good sink or swim moment though that taught me a lot.

Seriously I once compared Java based tools and C based tools for XML. The Java based tools took ten times as long.
